Told in the beginning chapters by the Chief Commissioner of the Hinterlands of Algiers and, in the final chapters, by his wife, two marriages of honor are brought into sharp contrast. One marriage of honor arranged by the bride’s family brings Chief Commissioner Muhammad and Lalla Hurriya together, albeit with reservations on the part of the bride. The other marriage of honor takes place after a woman’s family seeks to legitimize her abduction, thus sparing the family honor, by agreeing to marry her to the brute who snatched her from their home.

This is the seventh installment in the exciting Muhammad Amalfi Mystery series, the one that introduces readers to the heart and mind of a sagacious and courageous woman.
