Acerca de esta escucha

Break free from toxic parenting patterns and raise resilient, emotionally secure, and happy children.

Do you ever catch yourself reacting in ways you swore you never would, repeating the very behaviors that hurt you as a child?

Are you struggling to set boundaries with your own parents while trying to raise your children differently?

Do you want to create a home where your kids feel emotionally safe, seen, and valued but don’t know how to undo years of conditioning?

For many of us, parenting is filled with love, hope, and the desire to do better. Yet, even with the best intentions, we may unknowingly fall into harmful patterns—patterns passed down through generations. We say things we don’t mean, control out of fear, or let perfectionism take over. The cycle continues, leaving children feeling unseen, unheard, and burdened.

The Dark Side of Parenting sheds light on these unseen wounds and provides a science-backed, compassionate guide to breaking free from toxic behaviors. This book isn’t about shame or blame—it’s about awareness, healing, and transformation. It empowers us to recognize unhealthy patterns, set firm yet loving boundaries, and nurture emotionally strong, independent children.

If you’ve ever wondered how to stop generational cycles and become the parent your child truly needs, this book will give you the tools and mindset shifts to create lasting change.

Parenting is a journey of growth for both our children and us. The transformation starts here.

I bought this book for my daughter in the hope that it would be helpful for her as a single mum raising her three boys, but upon listening to the narration I came to a unexpected revelation that I had not done a very good job as a parent myself, and many of the topics covered throughout the book I found myself recognizing toxic patterns in my own parenting. As I related to them it gave me a good chance to make a fresh assessment of my performance as a parent, and realized that I came up short. It would have been good to have had this book 40 years ago. It would also have been wonderful to have had an introduction to the science of emotional intelligence as a young single parent back then.

I especially became very aware that the burden a young child carries when they are suddenly plunged into a caregiving role for a disabled parent, has a terrible emotional toll. I know you can’t turn back time, but the simple exposition covered in these pages made a lot of sense of why my poor parenting happened in the first place. I hope this book can help others not repeat my mistakes by equipping them to be better parents.
