Acerca de esta escucha

The “consistently high-quality” (Booklist) Charlie Parker series continues with a white-knuckled new thriller from New York Times best-selling author John Connolly.

Wyatt Riggins, the boyfriend of rising Maine artist Zetta Nadeau, has gone missing, leaving behind a cell phone containing a single-word message: RUN. Private investigator Charlie Parker is hired to find out why Riggins has fled, and from whom.

Parker discovers that Riggins, an ex-soldier, has been involved in the abduction of four children from Mexico: three girls and a boy, all belonging to the cartel boss Blas Urrea—except Urrea’s family is safe and well in Mexico, which means the abductees cannot be his children. Yet whoever they are, Urrea wants them back, and has dispatched his agents to secure them, even if it means butchering everyone who stands in their way.

One of those agents is Eugene Seeley, a clever, ruthless solver of other men’s problems. The other is an unknown woman.

Every child has a mother. Now Charlie Parker will face one unlike any other, and learn the terrifying truth about the Children of Eve.

I love the Charlie Parker series. I’ve been reading them for ages. It’s my first time to listen to one. Very average, blah, mundane. Poor voice inflections. I’ll stick to reading them.

Excellent Story; Average Performance

They’re all there, SAC Ross to the Fulchis. Who could ask for more? I can’t get enough.

Thank you Mr Connolly

John Connolly brings us another excellent Charlie story with just the right amount of creepiness.

The language of Mr. Connelly's tale weaves a realm of unreality that becomes all too real. Parker and his intimates are solid and, for the most part, intelligent. His world is not one I would like to inhabit. But, an occasional visit is marvelous.

The Children of Eve satisfies a longing to hear more about Charlie Parker and his dance with destiny through his investigations. The investigation in this volume and its intricate moves and countermoves takes place largely outside of Parker’s own efforts to find the missing boyfriend of a troubled Maine artist. Although, of course, all roads lead to a final conflagration in Maine. While the details of the hidden children is interesting and happily eerie, the real chills of this novel are in the wrap around story of Parker’s dead daughter, Jennifer, and the growing threat to both her and Parker’s integrity that is beginning to loom. The ending sent chills down my spine and made me long for the next Parker adventure. Parker and those who surround, support, and love him have become old friends by now, and the pleasure of scenes with Angel and Louie remains one of my favorite parts in any Parker novel. But the others: his living daughter Sam, now heading to college (!), Moxie, Jennifer, and the latest addition, Macy, and even the remnant of his dead wife, all add to the satisfaction found while spending some time in Parker’s company. This is not my favorite Parker tale, but I was very happy adding another memory to Parker’s history while still longing for more.

Love Charlie Parker tales

As always, the writing was superb… But the plot, my best be described as baroque, confusing… And just dull at times. Also the endless teasing about the true nature of Charlie Parker, without ever making any progress towards the reveal, becomes tiresome after a while.

Not the best of the Charlie Parker series… But still good

The story was interesting and well plottted as always and anoother solid link in the chain of this very peculiar detective's story. Charlie Parker is not you average detective and he doesn't deal with the average criminal, at least not most of the time. The weird and supernatural elements are what makes this series really stand out for me.

Most interesting twist on the private detective genre, ever!
