Acerca de esta escucha

For both clinicians and their clients, there is tremendous value in understanding the psychophysiology of trauma and knowing what to do about its manifestations.

This book illuminates that physiology, shining a bright light on the impact of trauma on the body and the phenomenon of somatic memory.

It is now thought that people who have been traumatized hold an implicit memory of traumatic events in their brains and bodies. That memory is often expressed in the symptomatology of post-traumatic stress disorder - nightmares, flashbacks, startle responses, and dissociative behaviors. In essence, the body of the traumatized individual refuses to be ignored.

While reducing the chasm between scientific theory and clinical practice and bridging the gap between talk therapy and body therapy, Rothschild presents principles and non-touch techniques for giving the body its due. With an eye to its relevance for clinicians, she consolidates current knowledge about the psychobiology of the stress response both in normally challenging situations and during extreme and prolonged trauma.

I am reading this book for my Treating Trauma class. While I am thoroughly enjoying the content, I am struggling to stay awake listening to the reader’s overly soothing, calming, monotonous tone of voice. I will have to resort to a hard copy, unfortunately.

PTSD in a lullaby tone

A great book that is ideal in unpacking the deep seeded traumas that can afflict an individual and the proper methods of rejuvenation. I highly recommend this book.

A really helpful book

Thank you for this. It was like a therapy for me while listening to the book.

I enjoyed listening and finished the entire audio book!

SO good and solid, great framework for pacing in Trauma Treatment. The first few chapters have some outdated information about what has not yet been researched, but none of the new research invalidates the other information shared, it was just written prior to the other research being completed
The reader is really good at places and other places there is not clear delineation between titles and sections

Still a solid book

I thought I was going to learn about PTSD and how it affects the brain and body. That was not the case. instead, as she said in the beginning of the book, she was sharing her thoughts about the relationship between the two. It was almost like I was listening to her ramble.

very clinical

I tried to listen around 2 hrs, but seems closed to torture to listen the voice, the pace of this reading. So sorry to have to say this, I hope the book will get another chance at a better reading.

Really bad voice
