Melinda Donavan was devastated when her husband, Detective Ken Branson, left her for Natasha Peters, the daughter of a billionaire tycoon. Ken walked into the bedroom they shared and immediately sensed something was off. The room looked like a bachelor's pad. As he searched for Natasha, she walked in and avoided his embrace. "We need to talk, Ken," she said, her steady gaze sending shivers down his spine.
"What's going on, Nats?" Ken asked, trying to keep the panic out of his voice.
"I can't do this anymore, Ken," Natasha said, turning away from him. "I'm tired of being alone while you're off in London. It's not the life I wanted."
Ken approached her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "I understand, sweetheart. I'll do anything to make it work. I'll try to get a transfer to Australia."
Natasha shook her head and looked at him with sad eyes. "It's too late for that, Ken. I want a divorce."
Ken felt like he'd been punched in the gut. "A divorce? Nats, no. We can work this out. I love you."
Natasha sighed and looked away. "I don't think you do, Ken. You love your life in London more. You're never going to settle down here with me and the kids."
"That's not true, Nats," Ken said, desperation creeping into his voice. "I'll do whatever it takes. Just give me a chance."
"I can't, Ken," Natasha said, tears welling up in her eyes. "I can't keep living like this. I deserve better."
Ken's heart was breaking, but he couldn't let her go without a fight. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, kissing her neck and whispering in her ear. "Please, Nats. I'll do anything. Just don't leave me."
Natasha hesitated, her body melting against his as he continued to seduce her with his touch. But in the end, she pulled away and looked at him with determination. "I'm sorry, Ken. I have to do what's best for me. I can't keep living like this."
And with that, she left the room, leaving Ken alone and heartbroken.
