Thaddeus Fogg continually evaded capture by Stalin’s KGB and the East German Stasi while operating behind The Iron Curtain of Europe’s Eastern Bloc.
Despite a ‘Kings Ransom’ placed on his head, Thaddeus Fogg remained at large for the duration of The Cold War, which was to last four decades. Meanwhile, the threat of Nuclear Armageddon overshadowed the Free World. The likelihood of the outbreak of Nuclear War was a distinct reality.
The phantom spy possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the Eastern Bloc and fluency in German and Russian languages.
Thaddeus Fogg had another attribute to his advantage. There were no photographs of his face in existence. The Eastern Superpowers simply did not know what he looked like. It was an attribute that would save his life many times over, even after conclusion of The Cold War. The manhunt for Thaddeus Fogg would continue until his dying day – and beyond.
Officially, the Master Spy never existed, and MI6 continued to deny his very existence. He was merely folklore, a faceless phantom of legendary status within the shadowy world of espionage, never to emerge. To ensure survival, Thaddeus Fogg remained in denial of his actual existence.
In the words of MI6 Spymasters, ‘Thaddeus Fogg was pure fallacy.’
There are those living in the grey reality of espionage who to this day clearly dispute that statement.
Thaddeus Fogg was indeed a reality – considered by those of similar ilk, a lethal reality…
