Dark, funny, and filled with suspense, Temperature: Dead and Rising by new author Adam Santo is a wildly creepy fantasy - and a corpse of a good time.
When Sally Mertill is driving a carload of her friends back to Green Mountain Falls after visiting Pike's Peak they careen off the side of the mountain road. With no guardrails, it's not surprising there are no survivors. And yet within two days, a not altogether bad fellow named Bocnic Drewings will call upon the metal drawer where Sally's body awaits autopsy, open it, and lead her on the adventure of a lifetime - well, that's if she would have survived the accident. The powers that be have chosen Sally to become undead and she's the only other person who's been given the power to raise the dead - and control them. When leaders of rival undead clans find out, they either want to control or destroy her, which makes Sally staying undead a bit of a challenge...

This is just the type of book that I would normally listen too so it had a lot to live up to. I'm glad to say that it succeeded and it done it rather well.I went into the audiobook blind, having not read nor heard any blurbs and reviews of the novel. It is a story of the undead: zombies, vampires, werewolves. Cliché? Possibly, but not the way it is done here. Forget everything you think you know about the supernatural, these vampires don't sparkle, these werewolves aren't afraid of silver bullets and these zombies are definitely not the rotting corpses of former neighbours. There is plenty of action so you're not going to be bored and there is actually a good storyline to go with it.My only negative is that it feels too short. I'm sure there will be more to come and I look forward to it.Enjoyable, well written and well read.

What disappointed you about Temperature: Dead and Rising?
Writing, narrator and story. This had to be a first draft - at least I hope so. No editor or even 'intelligent friend' would give an 'OK' to the contents of this effort. What do you think your next listen will be?
There are hundreds in my library and I often toss a coin. I'm considering James Cook's latest segment of 'Surviving the Dead', titled 'Fire in Winter' as I've enjoyed his efforts.Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joanna Withey?
This effort is not worth narrating. What character would you cut from Temperature: Dead and Rising?
Based on the prose presented I would delete every one. This title requires a complete re-do, including author's consideration.Any additional comments?
Sorry to be so negative but I expect, at the very least, reasonable writing and a narrator who knows how to properly pronounce everyday words.Total loss on all levels
