Rick Carson
This is a completely updated edition of the 1983 classic that introduced a powerful method for gaining freedom from self-defeating behaviors and beliefs. Rick Carson, creator of the renowned Gremlin-Tamin Method, has revised the book to include fresh interactive activities, real-life vignettes we can all identify with, and new loathsome gremlins ripe for taming. Carson blends his laid-back style, Taoist wisdom, the Zen Theory of Change, and sound psychology in an easy-to-understand, unique, and practical system for banishing the nemesis within. Among the things you will learn are:
- Techniques for getting a sliver of light between the natural you and the monster of your mind.
- The extraordinary power of simply noticing and playing with options.
- Six keys to maintaining emotional balance amid upheaval.

Would you listen to Taming Your Gremlin again? Why?
I listen to this often, to reinforce the process, and because I get something new out of it each time. Some of the changes takes effect immediately, others need a little time to be in process and practice. Years of self-sabotage can take a little effort to undo, but this makes it so easy to notice when it's happening, and just by noticing, it begins to dissipate. This does not set you up to do battle with your gremlin, rather to disarm him in the moment. He then shows up less and less. What did you like best about this story?
My favorite part of this process is the lack of analysis required for improvement. I know people that spend years in analysis to no end. You do not have to go down a path of rehashing what someone did to you back when that made you this way. It doesn't serve this process. Rather, awareness is key. It is amazing how quickly you can choose to disengage the ugly voice in your head this way.Which character – as performed by Rick Carson – was your favorite?
Rick has a great voice; he comes across to me as a gentle and caring soul who is very adept at the process, getting right to it.Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I have a few a-ha moments throughout. I have a bit of an ego, thinking I'm not going to learn anything new about myself, then something he says sinks in and I feel growth takes place. And it sticks. Listening to this over and over is like adding to my toolbox for when life throws me a curveball.Any additional comments?
This is a tool, a guide, a process. That doesn't mean it is for everyone on the planet, but if it is for you, it is life-changing. I am in process daily, and like any good skill that is practiced, it is becoming second nature. It is not 'religious'. Rick does mention past gurus or leaders who most likely were the first to mention a process of the mind or heart. I think that is giving credit where credit is due.I improve more every time I listen
