The siblings find allies in Matt Bearclaw, a teen of the Puyallup Tribe, Forest Ranger Sally Card, and USAF Pararescue Staff Sergeant Camilla Sanchez. Will this unlikely band be able to reach the safety of a military base in the interior of the former United States? Will they be able to out-wit or out-run traitorous humans, Cyborgs, Harvesters, and alien attack craft? They're not certain what the next moment brings but they do know this: Where there is life, there is hope.
