Acerca de esta escucha
Revolution is in the air, the Kingdom Isle is on the brink of collapse, and enemies are closing in on all sides.
The newly appointed Chief of Defence (Nathan Sahl) has inherited a poison chalice. As he stands on his roof top balcony, a brutal decision is thrust upon his shoulders:
Stand trial and take responsibility for the crimes of others, or strike first and destroy all who oppose him. As a special forces veteran, there’s only one option… but to succeed, he will need the help of a ruthless foreign regime. Nathan’s decision will set off a chain of events which cannot be done, igniting the flight of a giant war machine, the awakening of a demi-god, and beginning of the end. Prisoners will escape, special agents will seek revenge, and revolutionaries will rise in the first instalment of the epic sci-fi action-adventure series: Titans, Cranes & Monsters’ Games.

It does pack action and what I think, would be excitement, if I felt invested in this world/ these characters. The content itself isn’t bad by any means, though the narration is.
Political strife.
Broken soldier.
World-building.
Antihero.
Dystopian vibes.
With all the makings of a good read, I do recommend it, just in another format. Go for print or eBook.
3 stars.
🎧 Audio:
Not good. Overall sound quality was smooth, so great on that front. However, the actually narration was atrocious. Normally, I love a book narrated by the author, as I expect that way, it gets delivered exactly the way its creator intended! However, in this instance … it’s truly awful. Joseph simply dictates the words, managing to sound even more robotic than any AI / virtual voice / cyber butlers (like Siri, etc.) I’ve ever experienced.
I certainly understand the expense involved in audio production and appreciate the effort just … in this instance he’s doing himself and his artwork a vast disservice. I recommend consuming a format other than audio for this one.
Robotic dictation made it hard...
