Yes! Geoff wasn’t wrong about book 2 possibly being better. The story went to a whole different place than what I was expecting (well, I didn't even now what to expect 😅), and I loved it! Super entertaining, I couldn't put it down (again!), and all I kept thinking was, "ok, when are the movies out?". 🤩 That story (both books) checks all the right spots and I cannot wait to see how it ends!

Okay, I don't often give 5 stars on anything. I do give them, but, my normal "top" rating are 4/5, unless whatever it is I'm reviewing really blows me away. I liked the first book a lot and it had me thinking about the rest of the story, often. When this was released, I downloaded it immediately! I try to limit my listening to times when I'm driving by myself or doing yardwork. I still listen a lot, but, I just don't have to rewind every so often or lose focus on work tasks. That said, I really could not wait to drive to/from work, if only to get a chance to get stuck in traffic and listen more!

So, this book picks up exactly where the last one left off. It seems like it was one giant book, then chopped into three at key points. It's realistic, to the part that not everyone lives. I mean, there is not always people who survive dinosaur attacks, right? The good guys don't always win. I said it on my review of the first book and it still stands true, "it's no 'Red Wedding'", but, just expect that you can't rely on thinking like, "oh they're kind of a main character, so I don't need to worry." Geoff did a great job at making sure you don't get bored with the same old tropes.

You're going to get frustrated by some parts, but, not overly angry. This is because you might be going down a really good part of the story and then it just switches to another "scene". It's like "foo! I don't care about that, what is going on with ___?!" What catches you off-guard is that what you were upset about is suddenly forgotten, because it turns out that yeah, you would actually like to know more about what he switched scenes to. Like a Jedi mind trick.

I found myself at home on a couple of occasions, scrolling through my YTTV channels looking for the "dinosaur survival show", but, couldn't place the name. Limiting my listening to driving and mindless tasks really turned the book into a TV series that was only in my head!

The character development was well enough done, that you got an opinion of people within a few minutes. The story gets more into the caretakers and the overall plot of what happens to Earth and their role. The ending leaves on a bit of a cliffhanger, so be ready to want more. It's not a horrible one though, so you will be able to get by until the release of the third. Maybe listen to the first two again?

I'm really looking forward to the thrid and final book!

This series has a really cool setup, and the pacing of mystery-reveals from book 1 to book 2 has been excellent, expanding the world in each book. The aliens feel original, especially as we start to get hints at their motivations. The characters are engaging and the interpersonal conflict really drives the story. Also, while brief, I love the voice of the dog :)

Can't wait for book 3!

The second book was just as good as the first! I could see this as a great TV series. I will be sorry to see the next book come out because I know it's the end, but can't wait to finish the story as well. I guess I'll pace the floor until October!

I was hesitant to start it, thinking, what if it isn't as good as the first book? But as soon as I started it, I couldn't pull away. This story was incredibly well written, with riveting characters and action (not to mention dinosaurs). The narrator did a fantastic job, as well. I highly recommend this series, and I look forward to the conclusion! It's well worth the time and credit spent.
