When author Geoffrey Giuliano and his wife Vrnda Devi met Jack Bruce and his lovely wife Margaret at the Savoy Hotel bar in London in 1994, they had no idea the kind of explosive, confessional, even lurid conversation they were about to have. What was supposedly a reasonably generic interview about the life and work of the great Mr. Bruce quickly turned into a haunting tirade on Jack’s highly emotional, even hate-filled thoughts concerning his longtime musical colleague and Cream band member Eric Clapton.

The content of this bizarre, unexpected encounter is almost impossible to either express or comprehend. One must hear it to believe it. Wiping away the spin, promotion, legend, and myth, here is the real Jack Bruce - uncensored, unbridled, and frighteningly frank about the fabled British guitarist fans once referred to as “God”. A must for all serious collectors of 1960s memorabilia as well as pop historians, music scholars, fans, and all university and school systems.

What Jack Bruce says in this VERY SHORT interview is very interesting. He comments that Clapton will do just about anything to be more famous. I don't know if it is true, but it seemed true to Bruce at the time. His comments on Ginger Baker being the leader of Cream and his personality are very interesting. I almost think that Jack Bruce's wife thought SHE was the one being interviewed. Jack Bruce has a soft voice in this interview and seems personable and friendly. BUT it is hard to hear him many times. Sometimes I had to go back several times just to get what he was saying. Geoffrey's book on Ginger Baker is much easier to listen to and shows clearly Ginger Baker had a lot of issues in his life. He really does seem to confirm in that interview AND Jack's comments here about him that he really DID think he was the world's best rock drummer. Jack says here that he loves Ginger, but he will never work with him again due to his bad social skills with roadies, etc..

What I hate about this work is the audio quality is not good. There is a lot of extraneous noise in the background... crowd noise... light background chatter, dishes clashing and Bruce's wife is there and sometimes she talks in the interview inaudibly and even MORE than Jack does! I am fairly sure that Jack did not want to have this released in his lifetime as an audible book. Probably his widow signed over the rights for Giuliano's interview to be sold as an audio book.
