Sophie Feegle needs a break. Rent is due on her crappy apartment and she's halfway through her last loaf of bread.

Sophie doesn't have big ambitions. She only wants a job that will keep her landlord off her back, enough extra cash for whiskey at the neighborhood bar and a bit of free time to hang out with the naughty old lady next door.

When a chance encounter with a quiet stranger leads to a job offer at the San Francisco City Morgue, Sophie jumps at the opportunity. She never expected to find her calling on the graveyard shift surrounded by dead bodies and the strange characters that make up the morgue's staff. Finding out that your friends and co-workers are shifters, ogres and other non-human creatures is a shock, but Sophie quickly realizes that these are her people, and she has finally found her perfect gig.

And then things get odd. Well… odder.

I really enjoyed this series and how each book wasn't the same adventure with a few different twists like so many are. When you pretty much know what is going to happen before it does, I quickly loose interest. With this series each book was different which made me stay riveted the whole time to see what might happen next in Sophie's life as she learned about who she is as she continued to grow in all her relationships. I do wish she would have believed in herself a little more, but like any of us, she had people around her who believed in her and lifted her up when she needed it. I guess if you think about it, things like this make this story seem more real. Almost like this could really happen and maybe mythicals do exist.... well maybe not, but no matter what it was a great listen. I also loved the slow burn romance that didn't contain any seriously steamy scenes, even though I enjoy an exotic romance every now and again, the plot and characters made this book a fantastic read that came to life in my mind. I also enjoyed the narrator and how she kept all the voices the same throughout the series which made it easier to understand. Some of the dreams were hard to figure out who was talking but I believe that was the authors intent since she wanted us as confused as Sophie was when she woke up. If you haven't already, go get it. You will enjoy many hours of laughs and even some tears along the way. As soon as I'm done writing this review I'm going to get on her mailing list!

was inticed from the start-- nicely built up with the characters interacting and becoming familiar with each other--weird twists-- continuous surprises--very hard to put down--authors knowledge of the city was interesting along with the explanation was a learning listen

I listened to the complete series on Audible, such an incredible imagination! It’s not often i find a complete series that can keep me from getting bored, but this certainly kept my attention till the end. Excellent story line, I will be keeping my eye out for her next titles 😊

The storyline was great and I enjoyed the variety of voices created by the narrator! I also enjoyed the realistic way in which the author developed each book in a cohesive not overly sexualized manner!

Unusual premise, good solid magic system, non-whiny MC and not too much romance. Very good urban fantasy that is not just a romance in disguise.

What a fun listen. Each book builds on the next but the stories are fun and interesting enough. My 10 year old listened to just a few minutes of book one and was intrigued with the story. Every day after school she asked for updates on the book. I loved how unique the book felt. It had heavy moments, broken up with wit and snark. I love a lead character with snark because I can relate. You can’t help fall in love with these characters and not just the main ones. The entire group of odd ones are unique but lovable. I enjoyed that the story line was one I could share with my daughter in edited versions and increased her love for reading. I wouldn’t let her listen to it but the joy of sharing a paranormal love was so fun. I could have spent a lot more time in this world. The narration was delightful especially with the wide range of accents and characters with distinct vibes to work through. Highly recommend. I also think this would be a great YA set for those who want to dive into paranormal.

I'm glad I got the boxset. The story is original and the characters are engaging. I look forward to other books by this author.

The collection was great. The 3rd book was a little slow but made up for it in the 4th book. Book 5 wrapped everything up in a wonderful bow = HEA.
