Acerca de esta escucha

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laurelin Paige comes a story in her Slay series...

Camilla Fasbender has a secret.

Underneath her posh accent and designer clothes lies the evidence of her pain.

Every heartbreak, every bad day, every setback has left a scar.

From behind her camera, she shows the world what to see. And it isn't her.

Until him.

He sees right through her carefully constructed facade.

And he's going to slash it all to pieces.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new listeners, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Loved Camila story and her struggle to get to her HEA. The narrator told the story that zip could visualize her story and I teared up at her pain and struggle. Camilla was strong to survive the abuse and her pain. I annoyed reading this story.

Wonderful story

You know how authors research something and then they write a book and try to share with you, the reader, everything they learned while researching for the book? This feels like that. This book is almost annoyingly heavy with the photography descriptions and metaphors and it’s honestly a bit much. The opening chapter clues you into it and I just wanted the author to chill out, but unfortunately she carries that throughout the entire book.

Content notes include mentions of depression, mentions of cutting, suicidal ideation, mentions of childhood abuse, and mentions of an abusive husband.

This is probably the most...innocent of all the Laurelin Paige books I’ve read, but it fits Camilla. Her past has very dark moments, which she explains here but the hero is one of the more innocent and that’s just fine. Camilla has been through so much in her life and I just really wanted to see her get her HEA while I was reading the Slay series, and she does!! Hendrix is a perfect fit for her.

I love Hendrix and I’m only sad that this story was so short because it fells like they deserve more time together. The time they are together in this novella and not through flashback has Camilla as a photography professor and Hendrix, her student. Not that she’s giving out grades or anything so them falling in love and having sex feels like icky.

We saw a small moment with Edward popping into the story as the concerned older brother, but this is mostly about Camilla and Hendrix. Her six-year-old son Freddie is also adorable. I’m glad Camilla is now living her best life, and with the most loving person possible.

I don’t think I would recommend this book in audio because I’m not a fan of the audiobook narrator at all. I don’t think Emma Roya captures Camilla’s voice and just makes her seem whiny and unlikeable. I did enjoy this book much more in text when I had first read it.

This is a decent story to close up on Camilla’s life and we get to she her find the HEA she so very rightly deserves. I’m happy for her and Hendrix, and would recommend this book for anyone who has read the Slay series and hoped that Camilla found her happy ending.

It's okay for a novella

Not as good as the original Slay series. It answers some questions but most were resolved in the last Edward Fastbender book so this novella was just and add-on.

Camilla's Story & romance with photographer

Se ha producido un error. Vuelve a intentarlo dentro de unos minutos.

Another novella by this author where two adults fail to talk to each other, causing an unnecessary slow burn. Here, he joins her photography class and we get to listen to a dull recitation of art lingo at each chapter where they don’t talk about their previous fling.

The heat is more sweet than sexy … and you’ll need to trudge through a story with a kid to get to the sex at the very end. Maybe it’s just me, but a story titled Slash and under the 1001 nights series moniker should have been steamier.

Snoozer of a second chance romance

I love her books but I’m disappointed that this was so short. It doesn’t seem worth an entire credit. I was also hoping to hear more mentions of characters in related series.
