Acerca de esta escucha
It’s springtime at South Orange Middle School. Pete Saltz is in love with Anabelle, a girl in his eighth grade class, and she likes him, too. But they’re both so shy, they won’t even look at each other, much less show their feelings. It will take more than chance to get them together. Fortunately, Ed Sitrow, another eighth grader, has a master plan. He’ll cast Pete and Anabelle in the lead roles of a school production of Romeo and Juliet. Then they will have to kiss each other in the last act. Soon the whole school is looking forward to the play - and the big scene.
Avi has delighted countless young listeners with his tales of high-spirited adventure. A former librarian, he has won a Newbery Honor Award, an O’Dell Award, a Christopher Award, and honors from the ALA for his works. Romeo and Juliet… is full of slapstick and excitement, and narrator Jeff Woodman’s lighthearted performance heightens the fun.

Funny
This is a book I overlooked when browsing through the library as a teen, but I’m glad I gave it a chance now. I really enjoyed listening to it, I was literally laughing out loud during much of the books ending. The play was a hilarious montage of disasters. I know it’s a fictional story, but it’s admirable that they didn’t give up and saw the play through. I know I wouldn’t have at that age.
I’d recommend it for at least eighth graders, but possibly even older, because even though it’s about middle schoolers, I feel like I personally wouldn’t have found it as humorous then as I do now.
The narrator also did a good job. No weird voices for the girls, which I always appreciate.

Non STOP Laughter!!
This is one of my most favorite books from childhood that I LOVE to re-read as an adult! The first half is setting up the play, and the second half is non-stop riotious laughter as the play unfolds. Great for all ages and all times, and the audiobook is a wonderful listen as the tears will be rolling down your face from laughter!
