Renn and his protector, the mage Artio, disappeared without a trace and have been hiding from powerful warlock’s and evil magic users for nearly two years. According to an ancient prophecy, Renn will change the balance of power.

The most powerful warlock, Kahn Devin, is convinced the boy, Renn, is still alive and will stop at nothing to find him before he learns to use his powers and can defeat the warlock and stop his bid to rule all of Lemuria.

This novella is the first of the series that I've read (listened to), and I really enjoyed it! I was able to fully understand the story without having read the first book of the series. It was well written with a variety of fun characters, magic, and adventure. Listening to this definitely made me intrigued to read the rest of the series. The narrator was so fun to listen to. He made each of the characters sound unique, so it was never difficult to know who was speaking. He personifies each character so well! If you like listening to a narrator who portrays a story with emotion, you'll like listening to this one!

Overall a really fun and short read/listen if you're into fantasy.
