Acerca de esta escucha

When an ancient artifact dissolves in the hands of a man calling himself Mr. Veilleur, he knows something has gone wrong…terribly, cosmically wrong.

Dr. Roderick Hanley, Nobel Prize-winning geneticist, dies in a plane crash. His last words: "The boy! They’ll find out about the boy! He’ll find out about himself!" When Jim Stevens, an orphan and struggling writer, learns that he is the sole heir to the Hanley estate, he is sure he has at last found his biological father. But he’s only half right. The true nature of his inheritance - and the truth about his conception - will crush him.

In New York City a group of Charismatics has been drawn together - without invitation, simply showing up at a Murray Hill brownstone - with a sense of great purpose. Satan is coming, and they have been chosen to fight him.

Mr. Veilleur, too, has been drawn to the group, but he realizes it’s not Satan who is coming. Satan would be a suitable au pair compared to the ancient evil that is in the process of being reborn.

Reseñas editoriales

Fans of the Adversary cycle can't stop after book three; this fourth installation, Reborn, illuminates F. Paul Wilson's bigger picture. When Jim Stevens comes into a large inheritance, he thinks he has finally found his biological father. In fact, the truth turns out to be much stranger than he - or we - could've ever expected… Kurt Elftmann's performance takes the cake here. His varied pacing, deliberate and firm, harnesses the mysterious tone. While not over-the-top, his performance demonstrates animation and enthusiasm. Listeners looking for a sci-fi, horror, and adventure mash-up will enjoy this curious tale of ancient evil.

Not F Paul Wilson's best work...but good enough to waste time getting through it.
The narrator is horrible.

Narrator spoils this one

Mr. Wilson gives you fully realized characters. So realized that you feel like old friends you are finally making time to reconnect with. But how well do you actually know them?
I love that the author forces us to choose our loyalties and then makes us live with our choices right up to the end.
A choose your own adventure with possibly dark consequences.

Twists, turns, and please don't call it the antichrist

I loved the book THE KEEP, absolutely recommend that book to anyone. I finished The keep in two days and happily would of done it in one sitting if time allowed. I saw that some consider this the indirect sequel to it so I decided to give it a try. I ended up unable to finish this, If you enjoyed THE KEEP and want more this is not the book for you.

disappointing

I started reading the adversary cycle about 1987 and at the time had only been able to find the first three books. Life got in the way, and here I am, almost 30 years later, completing the quest. This series, as well as the Repairman Jack novels, has been great. I am looking forward to the rest. Now, I off to the Tomb.

Well written. Good solid fun

it seemed that the story ended abruptly. we see the development of the pregnancy and the fact that the child is more. but we are left with no conclusion. I feel like half the book is missing.

the story was very good, but I want more

Overall a bit anticlimactic and the monotone of the narrator leaves something to be desired.

Decent story, below average narrator

I picked this after listening to "The Keep" The online WiKi advised reading this series in the order of it's timeline instead of the book release. I made it through this but it no where near as good as the 1st book. I think this was more of a world building story for this series and I will give one more book a try by going back to the order it was released. I also was not a fan of the narrator on this book. He seems that he might have been almost as bored with the long drawn out chapters as I was. This whole book probably could have been a quick short story add on or a couple of flashback chapters added to one of the other books.

Kinda of a let down

The only reason I finished this excruciating audiobook is because it is a part of a series I picked up on sale, and I wanted to be sure I knew what happened in case it became relevant in future books.

None of the characters were fully developed, and most of the time I couldn't understand their choices. The rest of the time, they infuriated me. AND there is no main character. There are several characters who are present throughout, but I wouldn't say any one of them was the protagonist. This might have been interesting if there were multiple POVs, but no.

There's no sense of a resolution at the end even though the other books in the series work as stand alones.

The narrator's accents were distracting.

Least favorite of the Adversary Cycle so far
