Acerca de esta escucha
When veteran executive coach, professor, and ultra-endurance champion Urs Koenig signed up to be a NATO peacekeeping commander and United Nations peacekeeper in his fifties, he thought he knew a thing or two about leadership.
What he discovered was a new way of thinking that replaces the top-down, “heroic” leadership of the past with a more human-centered approach that views humility as a strength and key to achieving goals in today’s complex world.
The deeply researched Radical Humility framework centers on making five Shifts that will help you elevate your leadership from Heroic (THEN) to Humble (NOW):
» 1. Dig Deep—from blind spots (THEN) to self-awareness (NOW)
» 2. Tough on Results, Tender on People—from heavy-handed (THEN) to high-touch, high standards (NOW)
» 3. Lead Like a Compass—from micromanaging (THEN) to empowerment (NOW)
» 4. Full Transparency—from secrecy (THEN) to open doors (NOW)
» 5. Champion a Fearless Culture—from afraid to speak up (THEN) to fearless (NOW)
With a flair for storytelling that has inspired teams at Amazon, Starbucks, Microsoft, and the Society of Human Resource Management, Koenig shares his own compelling leadership journey as well as those of leaders from health care, government, tech, the military, professional sports, and more.
Radical Humility is packed with dozens of no-nonsense tools and practical takeaways, making it the ultimate actionable blueprint for a new type of leader for a new type of world.

Employees that don't take ownership of their work. Friction between departments. Inconsistent results. These are the top challenges that face most businesses today. These common issues create high turnover and force managers into crisis mode where they're consumed putting out daily fires. Over time, the very nature of the business changes and a new culture emerges; one shaped by the lowest level of acceptable behavior.

For decades, Peter F. Drucker was widely regarded as "the dean of this country's business and management philosophers" ( Wall Street Journal). In this concise and brilliant work, he looks to the most influential position in management - the executive. The measure of the executive, Drucker reminds us, is the ability to "get the right things done". This usually involves doing what other people have overlooked as well as avoiding what is unproductive.

What passes for strategy in too many businesses, government agencies, and military operations is a toxic mix of wishful thinking and a jumble of incoherent policies. Richard P. Rumelt’s breakthrough concept is that leaders become effective strategists when they focus on challenges rather than goals, pinpointing the crux of their pivotal challenge—the aspect that is both surmountable and promises the greatest progress—and taking decisive, coherent action to overcome it.

Historia
Being a CEO at any of the world’s largest companies is among the most challenging roles in business. Billions, and even trillions, are at stake—and the fates of tens of thousands of employees often hang in the balance. Yet, even when “can’t miss” high-achievers win the top job, very few excel. For those who shoulder the burden of being the one on whom everyone counts, a manual for excellence is sorely needed. To identify the 21st century’s best CEOs, the authors of CEO Excellence started with a pool of over 2,400 public company CEOs.

A great read (or listen) for any level of leader
Se ha producido un error. Vuelve a intentarlo dentro de unos minutos.
It is not a weakness, it’s a powerful tool to balance confidence, restrict arrogance and unlock creating a better workplace and company.
I also couldn’t help but think of past work environments or atmospheres that could use this book.
Humility in leadership doesn’t get the spotlight that it should. Thank you Urs for this insightful perspective. 🙏🏻
Humility is not a Weakness
Se ha producido un error. Vuelve a intentarlo dentro de unos minutos.
Certainly required reading for business leaders , but also for parents, students, and educators.
A timely reminder - leadership that doesn’t begin in humility is a fools errand . Particularly now where selfish and destructive echoes of fascism and nationalism are once again at the forefront.,
This wonderful book allows leaders the opportunity to refocus on core human values.
Invoking General McChrystal’s thoughts on the “inversion of expertise” Is an ideal point from which to view the challenges of teambuilding in an evolving, AI driven era.
Thank you, Urs.
The humility to look in the mirror
