If you know you want to get a supply of food storage for you and your family, but you are not quite sure where to start, this book is for you. For most of my adult years, the extent of my “food storage” was a few extra cans of beans in the cupboard. Then, sometime in 2019, I began to feel strongly that it would be a good idea to get an actual food storage supply put together for myself and my wife.
We are young, and barely out of college, so it was important for us to be able to do this on a budget, which means we needed to do a lot of work on our own, rather than just buying a huge supply of food that has a long shelf-life.
As we tried to research where to start, we kept running into the same problem: we did not know how much food we needed, and the easiest baseline was how much food one person would need for one year. However, as we attempted to research this, we could never find comprehensive guides to help us reach that goal. We also knew we didn’t just want a bunch of rice and dry beans, but we needed more information on what foods we could store that would provide a variety of nutrients. This book is meant to fill those voids, and help you fill your belly when times are scarce.
