After a long hot summer in Balsam Dell, Carly Hale is ready for crisp Vermont weather and gourmet grilled cheeses at her Grilled Cheese Eatery. And the upcoming Halloween food competition is the perfect way to impress the locals.

But Ferris Menard, the owner of Sub-a-Dub-Sub, is nursing a serious grudge against Carly. Two days before the competition, one of Carly's employees quit his part-time gig at Menard's sub shop, sending Menard into a serious snit. In a confrontation at the Eatery, Menard accused Carly of sabotage and vowed to bring her down.

That's when Menard's body is found in his kitchen the morning after the competition, a steak knife sticking out of his heart. But Menard had a slew of enemies, and if Carly doesn't figure out which one is the culprit, she might find herself—or someone she cares about—serving grilled cheese sandwiches under lock and brie!

Setting the Scene: Carley's gearing up for the Halloween competition when the neighboring sub shop owner accuses her of foul play. Soon after, he is found murdered in his shop. With her reputation and freedom on the line, Carley finds herself investigating again.

What I Thought: I enjoyed visiting Carley and friends in Linda Reilly's second outing at the Vermont cheesy eatery. The storyline was well plotted, the dialogue entertaining, and the relationships relatable. FAIR WARNING: Reading this book may lead to uncontrollable cravings for grilled cheese sandwiches of all kinds.

this writer shows that a book doesn't have to have foul language or sex to have a good story. it is a little wordy with descriptions but I like that. I don't want my listen to be over with right away. i hope for more to be done in this cozy series. I love that the story seems like it's actually happening and not like I'm just listening to so eo especially writing. This narrator is wonderful.

Another fantastic mystery. I really like the main and recurring characters, and wish I could pop into the restaurant to enjoy a grilled cheese myself. I was able to figure out the killer this time ahead of the reveal, but just barely and I still wasn’t 100%. It was so much fun sorting through the clues and suspects. I can’t wait for the next in the series!

It was hard to figure out the mystery until the end. The characters were brought to life by the narrator with great enthusiasm.

She writes with respect and dignity! Seems hard to find these days . Thank You for writing stories that has a
different genre than all the other stories in this category ! Also love every age of persons are named.
Respect for parents as well as the choices of the children!! EXCELLENT Narrator 💖💖! She has a smooth relaxing voice that is easy to listen to all day! So many Ruin wonderful stories!! Don't know if writer's Get to choose their narrators.. If they can't, to many Great writers may lose out because of awful narrators!! I have been captivated by
A story, then could not go on the voice either grated on the nerves or could not quite understand them!

This started off qs a good series but. this book is the beginning of the end. Carly's actions are irrational. She makes idiotic decisions and doesn't seem to care about the people around her. I'm not sure about the next book.
