Ms. Sarah Thompson, who just retired from 30 years of teaching in the city, thought her retirement back in her lakeside hometown would be quiet, filled with late mornings enjoying a second cup of coffee and leisurely days finally learning how to bake.
Yeah…no.
Shortly after getting together with her spunky childhood best friend, who was starving for any kind of adventure, the boring quiet was shattered. Sarah’s old flame – ok, she still felt warm and happy when she thought of him – was found dead in his office. As a stressed-out town manager, he, it was officially assumed, died of “natural causes.” Sarah was skeptical. He was so fun and healthy and really enjoyed the challenges of his job. Who wanted him dead? It turns out, a lot of people did.
Ms. Sarah Thompson, her quirky BFF from high school, and a former student turned successful investigative journalist find themselves as amateur sleuths in the middle of a murder mystery in the small lakeside community of Hartbridge, New Hampshire, all while developting a great recipe for cowboy cookies.
