Top Notch Coben at his best!

Missing You” is a gritty cop story. At its center is Kat Donovan a New York City police officer who loves her job but Kat is not just fighting criminals but her own personal demons. She can’t let things go which can be a curse in her private life though such tenaciousness is often a blessing in her professional life…or sometimes vice versa. She’s still nursing a broken heart from a past love and is also haunted by her dad’s, another New York cop, murder. She wants to know the truth. When she joins an online dating site in hopes of finding true love she gets more than she expects. She doesn’t find love but a lead in a new case.

Coben writes a great thriller from beginning to end. He keeps you engaged and wracking your brain for theories and solutions right along with Kat, he engages the reader’s emotions as well. He also provides a knock out ending.

“Missing You” is well written, has fully fleshed out characters with a stylish and current plot and a great sense of place and time. A winner.

Quite bad

Great performance, as always, by Richard Armitage. That's pretty much the only positive of this book. The plot is weak. Story is dragging, bordering on boring, disjointed and all over the place, with lots of random characters with implausible motivations and actions - feels more like he tried to fill in the pages as the "main story" was so flimsy. The characters are probably the weakest point - either unlikable or uninteresting. I will skip the tv show as well as a result, I doubt they could have improved much on such a source material.
