When small-town Police Chief Arly Hanks returns to Maggody, Arkansas, after vacation, she finds the population has risen to a booming 802. The moonshiner, prostitute, and mother of four foul-mouthed little bad seeds was found shot to death in a booby-trapped marijuana field. Assuming the weed harvesters are sending a message to trespassers, Arly decides to hold vigil and set her own trap. But when another, seemingly unrelated, murder catches Arly off-guard, even Madame Celeste can't predict where this case is headed.

Very fun story, I always love my trips to Maggody. Courtney Patterson did an excellent job of bringing the whole book alive. Can't wait for the next book.

I absolutely love this series! It is hilarious and refreshing. The quirky residents of Maggody are a hoot! The narration is outstanding. Highly recommended!

Fast paced, lively, cleverly written and, at times, quite hysterical. Great series with mighty fine narration. Many of these stories are still available on Audible Plus folks, so head on over there and check ‘em out!! ☺️

This is one of my favorites in this
series. With the author's gift for
writing and this narrator's gift for
bringing the work to sweet life..... it
does not often get much better. I
imagine reading vs listening to this-- it does not work.

She should be fired. ignoring her beeper/job for days wasn't cute. It was engaging.
