Acerca de esta escucha

Liberty Banks loves revenge almost as much as she hates one Mr. Paul Grimes - a man she considers to be the most improper creature she has ever clapped eyes upon. But when her plans for revenge against Paul go bust, she suddenly finds herself walking down the aisle to him.

Once married, a battle of the wills breaks out as each tries to reform the other. Liberty wants nothing more than to have a proper husband. Much to Liberty's dismay, Paul will stop at nothing to have his all-too-proper wife do something - anything - to break the rules of society. And specifically, he'd have her do the most improper thing, which is to fall in love with the most improper man: her own husband.

If one is going to write a historical novel; one should have at least a basic awareness of historical facts!! The war of 1812 which would have made the traveling from the USA & Great Britain in all of this series of books, completely nonsensical!

Impossible timeline!

This hero deserves a remarkably better heroine. She’s got close to zero redeeming features to make up for her borderline abuse of the hero for the greater part of this book. She jumps to so many harsh conclusions you’ll hate her more than you’ll want her to get her man. Just so obtuse and incapable of thinking well of her hero. I found myself telling her out loud that all her problems were self-created.

Despite that, I liked how fleshed out the hero’s character was and the plot devices used in general.

The narrator mispronounced several words repeatedly.

Heroine is unrealistically obtuse and harsh

Loved book 1, was nervous about book 2 because Liberty wasn't my favorite character, but have to say book 2 & Liberty's story was laugh out loud enjoyable.

Better than the 1st

I love these two characters, especially our honorable vicar. Although Liberty was annoying in the way she treated him, I felt she should have paid more restitution for her actions at the end of the book with getting involved with the mysterious man at the ball. She had no right to be upset with her husband when he knew who he was with, but she did not and behaved in an unhonorably way with a strange man. So that was my only disappointment. The narration is excellent.

DARLING LOVE STORY

I did not think it was possible for Liberty's story to be even more interesting than Brooke's but Liberty and Paul were awesome to read about. Let's see if Madison is even better

Lovely story

It was a bit hard to get through the first half of this book as the main character (Liberty) is so single-minded and self-centered. It beggars belief that the male protagonist (Paul) goes through with all the palaver of marrying her just because he is grateful to her father. Any sensible man would have left the contemptible woman in chapter 2! It takes waaaaaay too long for Liberty to become the least bit likable, although she finally does Paul a decent turn in the end.

The narration was mediocre. For the dialogue, the voices did not differentiate in timbre, although at least they did do so in accent. The narrative was read with a stiff sort of recounting. Meh.

Unlikable protagonist, narration so-so

I like the story. It feels good to see a wife and a husband fall in love after being unable to stand each other.. I only don't like the part where Liberty keeps on being childish despite of her being a married woman.

A nice love story

around chapter 18 there is a huge jump that I don't think was supposed to be in the story

editing needs work

One of the most irritating women I've ever experienced as lead heroine and I am a major bookworm of many decades. I spent this entire book yelling at the twit like it was a bad horror film. Seriously, if Paul were anyone I knew in real life I'd have disavowed any connection to him purely because he'd put up with that excuse for a female lead character. All the sisters are ridiculous, but I'd have pushed Liberty off a cliff without remorse. That being said- yeah I listened to the whole thing, and the other two, cause they pass the time as entertaining background for work, but I'd not have paid for the- not a chance.
Bless the narrator, she tries, but also not my cup of tea.

The man is a friggin saint

Liberty and Paul have a rocky history, socially awkward with each other with a mutual dislike, but is that true.
Like a comedy of errors, Liberty and Paul bumble around each other, until their behavior ends with marriage. It’s a test of how they will or won’t go on together.

The ties of love and hate.
