Return to the amazing worlds created by some of fantasy's most famous authors as they tell all-new, original tales set in their best-selling series with Legends - the greatest anthology of original fantasy short novels ever published!

In this sensational volume, Robert Jordan presents New Spring, a stunning prequel to his best-selling series The Wheel of Time, performed by Sam Tsoutsouvas. Terry Pratchett relates The Sea and Little Fishes, an enchanting incident in Discworld, and it's performed by Kathryn Walker. Orson Scott Card spins another compelling yarn of Alvin Maker called Grinning Man; Frank Muller performs.

I'll keep this one brief, because I could write on this audiobook for hours. There are so many good stories for anyone who is new to scifi or fantasy, or to someone who has never read these good series of novels/audiobooks.

Especially the latter.

These are all exceptional works that will introduce you to wonderful realms that deserve your attention. For instance, you may have never considered Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series to be something you'd dive into, but once you read the short story he's included herein, I'm betting you'll be hooked. And this is just one of MANY such listening adventures that await you.

This is a great collection of stories that you'll listen to many times, due to the sheer diversity. quality, and pleasure they provide.

This is a fantastic voyage of discovery for you, the listener.

And it's only an Audible credit away.

Great narration, last two stories were fantastic with the first story being okay but not as good as the first two.

Last two stories are fantastic

i loved the Terry Pratchett story, but the rest wasn't really my cup of tea

While I had read the Jordan novella before, it happened to be one of my favorites in the series, where Lan and Moiraine first meet...and, unlike some of his other books, it is short enough to be finished without abandoning your friends/spouse for a week.
Pratchett's story is a Granny Weatherwax tale, where she maxes out her Headology skills. If what I just wrote sounds interesting, you will love the short--if not, get one of Pratchett's earlier books first.
Card surprised me--I've only read his first two books, and having one set in 1820s America really surprised me. The short is still fantasy, given the subtle powers of some of its characters, but certainly not of the conventional "set in 15th century England" type...and for that reason, that particular novella was my favorite of the three.

Great Writers, Great Narration, Money well spent

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Only if they like Orson Scott Card's Alvin Maker series.

If you’ve listened to books by the authors before, how does this one compare?

I've read/listened to everything (really!) written by Terry Pratchett. His universe is interesting and funny and lends itself to satire and a poke at us. I enjoyed this story, too. Jordan's world begins with this novella. If it interests you, read (listen to) the series. It does capture the imagination. I don't like the Alvin Maker series and this story did not keep me interested at all. I can't figure out why...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but it is a short story book so it lends itself to short listens as you can. A good listen when commuting to work and back.

Some wonderful, some not

The three stories in this collection are quite different from each other and in their value. Half of the content is in Jordan's "New Spring." Sadly, this tale is weak at best. It is unclear where the story is going or at the conclusion, where is went. Pratchett's "The Sea and Little Fishes" is entertaining to a Pratchett-fan. This is a short witches-story. The best of the three, however, is Card's "Grinning Man." This story was hillarious and insightfull and enough to make me look into other works by him.

Mixed bag

I really enjoyed the content of the short stories, but the audio itself was flawed. The recording skipped in places and the first story was not the newest version. Otherwise I enjoyed the book.

keep it up to date
