Acerca de esta escucha
Starting a business is easy. Growing a successful business: not so much.
The statistics are grim: Less than 20 percent of the businesses started each year survive their fifth anniversary. Jay Myers, founder of Interactive Solutions, Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee is one such survivor. Jay has built a company that, by tapping into the demand for high-tech video conferencing and communication equipment, continues to grow even beyond the 10 year anniversary.
Finding the way, however, wasn't easy. Facing cash flow problems, a partnership divorce and even an embezzling employee, there were many days that Jay thought he was going to end up just another statistic. Actually, he did: Interactive Solutions, Inc. is part of an elite club that has made the INC 500- INC magazine's list of America's fastest growing private companies - twice.
Jay shares his lessons on how he did it in Keep Swinging, a story of overcoming adversity and achieving small business success.

Historia
Meet a genuine American folk hero cut from the homespun cloth of America's heartland: Sam Walton, who parlayed a single dime store in a hardscrabble cotton town into Wal-Mart, the largest retailer in the world. The undisputed merchant king of the late 20th century, Sam never lost the common touch. Here, finally, inimitable words. Genuinely modest, but always sure of his ambitions and achievements. Sam shares his thinking in a candid, straight-from-the-shoulder style. In a story rich with anecdotes and the "rules of the road" of both Main Street and Wall Street, Sam Walton chronicles the inspiration, heart, and optimism that propelled him to lasso the American Dream.

If lately you have felt stuck, felt trapped, and have been questioning if this is all there is, your unrest is not uncommon. Frankly, it's your subconscious self (your soul) raising its hand to get your attention. There is so much more to life than trading a majority of your daylight hours for a paycheck, regardless of the amount. You may be fed up with saying, "Sorry, we can't afford it," to your spouse, or, "Sorry, I can't be on your field trip," to your child, or "Next time..." to your friends. It's high time you live your best life the way you design it.

Historia
In Made from Scratch, the late business maverick Kent Taylor tells the legendary story of Texas Roadhouse and in the process reveals its recipe for success: embracing unorthodox business practices. Because isn’t it a little unusual for a company to do almost no advertising? Is it wild to give away free peanuts and rolls and keep prices low, even as costs rise, or to keep the menu basically the same since it opened? Does it fly in the face of reason to prohibit coats and ties at headquarters and to have a CEO who dressed like he was part of the landscaping crew?

James Caan is one of Britain's most successful entrepreneurs. Dropping out of school at just sixteen, he started his business life with no qualifications and two pieces of advice: 'Observe the masses and do the opposite' and 'Always look for opportunities where both parties benefit'. Armed with just his father's wisdom, his own unique charm and the Yellow Pages, James Caan built a market-leading business with a turnover of more than #130 million from a broom cupboard.
