You might think it’s reckless for a single mom to enter into a marriage of convenience with her boss . . .You would be correct.

To make matters worse, Abel King is a grumpy local brewer with a criminal past. He also happens to be my boss and a total stick-in-the-mud. Every time I come to work with a smile and wave, I’m lucky if I can get a grunt in response.

When I accidentally-on-purpose overhear that he’s having trouble securing a business loan due to his criminal record, I hatch a plan to help the both of us.

The arrangement is perfect—a business transaction and nothing more. Like having a roommate without the hassle of other people bugging you for dates.

I will definitely not be falling in love with him—no matter how many times he says “my wife” and tingles dance in all the right places.

Trouble is, as time goes on, things stop feeling like business and start feeling a whole lot like pleasure . . . and really, that’s just my luck . .

After devouring Just This Once, I had to immediately dive into Abel's story - I knew it was going to be good and I am so glad I was right. Lena Hendrix creates these complex characters that just wrap you into their world and make you never want to leave. This is one of my favorite marriage of convenience stories and once again, leaves questions to be answered that have me itching for the next book ASAP.

This is not only a marriage of convenience perfection but the grumpy x sunshine banter is top tier. Abel is closed off but Sloane slowly chips away at his walls and his love for both her and her children really has him becoming that alpha protective MMC that I just adore. The "my wife" moments are so good and, just like his brother in book 1, the King men have a mouth on them that just get me riled up. The spice hit perfectly.

I absolutely adored Sloane as the FMC. She is so fierce and fun. The way she winds Abel up is priceless. She is the shoulder Abel needs to lean on but she also allows him to be her comfort zone too. Absolute SWOON!

Both plots - Abel's family dynamic & Sloane's ex-drama propel the story forward but it's Abel & Sloane's marriage that really takes center stage. The way their family unit bonds and the open communication between all of them really had me going through all the emotions.

🎧 I listened to this one and it was my first Sean Crisden book - he was SO GOOD! Loved both his and Ava Erikson's performances.

I am so invested in this story and there are still loose ends that I can't wait to see play out next. I just know Royal's book is going to be 🔥 and I can't wait!

this story made me laugh it made me smile it made me cry it even had my anxiety up. This was such a fabulous story. this has like an underlining story going through another story so there's kind of two stories going on here at once obviously you have the two main characters and their story but then there's a background story going on that is happening which is where a lot of the mysteriousness comes in. this story is very gripping it keeps you extremely involved that you want to know what's going on from one step to the next it's sweet romantic sexy it's got it all pretty much the narrator's doing absolute fabulous job of bringing these characters to life and I would recommend

I was a little bit cautious or felt a little wary about this story. I had a gut feeling that I would like it, but since the first book didn’t really give me that punch in the gut big climax big reveal feeling I was a little worried that this one would lack as well. Boy was wrong. The story was fantastic.

I am really enjoying this series on audio. This is a single mom, grumpy/sunshine, marriage of convenience romance. Can’t wait to listen to the next book.

Sloane and Abel

This one so far has been my favorite of the series! I'm a sucker for a single mom story and a man that shows up for kids that aren't his. I loved Sloane’s and Abel’s witty banter and it started from the get go. We love pining MC’s that enter into a mutually beneficial marriage of convenience. Sloane was funny and took what she wanted, no second guessing. Abel was an absolute teddy bear with a gruff exterior. There was still this air of mystery that I'm so excited to uncover with the coming books.

This was a first for me by narration Sean Crisden, I think he played the perfect Abel. Brooding attitude and all along with the softness he had around Sloane and the twins. Ava made me kick my heels screaming in laughter with her portrayal of Sloane.

I did not like when Abel’s vocals included dialogue for Sloan. It made Sloan sound incredibly annoying.

Are you kidding me! I don't know if it's because I listened to the audio, but I was swooning and smiling the whole damn book! There are so many amazing lines, and I'm pretty sure Abel is my new book husband. The spice did not overtake the book. The single mom trope was perfect, and I'm a sucker for a morally grey man who goes to therapy. So much, yes!!!

I took off a half a star simply because I was so tired of hearing the words "wife" and "boss." Other than that, I LOVED this!!

Omg I loved this book so much! I loved Abel and Sloane so so so much!!!!! The way they came together, and the way they worked through everything was perfect! The kids were so cute. I loved getting more answers to questions from the first book!
