Acerca de esta escucha

John Moody grew up ranch tough on a small cattle spread in Wyoming. A pair of gifted hands and the ability to run precise routes sent him to college on a football scholarship. In college he played wide-receiver and partied a lot. Now he's a Navy SEAL. A hard calling, but he was hard long before he arrived for SEAL training in Coronado. With the Berlin Wall down and the Cold War cooling off, there was little work for this young SEAL lieutenant. So he partied on - until the Kola mission tasking.

In the far reaches of the Northern Military District, a Russian general is trying to keep his underpaid and under-equipped forces intact. To do this, he is reconfiguring tactical nuclear warheads and selling them on a cash-and-carry basis. And America's newest adversary, the Islamic extremists, desperately want them. The CIA has indications, but no proof that this is taking place. The proof America needs is in the hands of a well-placed agent in this same general's forces. That agent has gone silent. In order to reestablish contact, a team of Navy SEALs trained in winter warfare is sent secretly into northern Russia - to the frigid Kola Peninsula. And that team is headed by none other than John Moody.

What made the experience of listening to John Moody; Navy SEAL the most enjoyable?

This is a terrific yarn. Well paced, and riveting to the end. And, absolutely the best in the business in Joe Barrett, bringing it all to life. Well worth the time. Hope there are more to come!

Brilliant all round...

It wasn't a bad book. I could have done without the she's a strong black female and blah blah blah. Why do that? Otherwise it wasn't bad.

Not a bad listen

Not action packed, but kept my interest throughout. I would liken it to The Dogs of War in that it is a very detailed narrative leading up to a final operation. From the description and cover photo I was expecting the book to be set in modern times, that was my fault for not doing more research.

It also reminded me of Tom Clancy's pre "campus" novels in some aspects. If you changed the names of some of the characters to Chavez, Clark, and Ryan you would have a familiar style thriller set during the end of the Cold War.

Overall I enjoyed the book, though I wish there was a little more action or espionage. The narrator was ok, I found his Russian accents a little annoying. This is a solid book I would recommend to Clancy fans or those looking for a retro thriller.

Just the right amount of everything in this book I was looking for a casual team oriented seal team book that focused on team dynamics and some team details and this did well. Story line was great and just the right amount of balance for an easy read. Hope more come.

Just right
