"The Elves and the Shoemaker" is read by Michael York, the well known actor who has starred in numerous films, including The Three Musketeers, The Four Musketeers, Romeo and Juliet, and the Austin Powers box-office hits.

Great performances by outstanding actors. Classic stories. But some liberties taken with those classic stories.

Upon hearing the names of the narrators, I had happy anticipation. The performances were okay, just okay. The disappointing part was the effects. The background music was much too loud and didn't especially fit the stories. And when there was reverb or voices were filtered, it really detracted from the story. As much as I like the individual actors, I think voice acting is a special art and it may have been best left to the experts.

I love this book. I recommend this for kids of any age. I'm in my 60's and really enjoyed it.
