Lindsey always knew she wanted to be a detective. Her inspiration came after reading about the murders committed by Ted Bundy, who grew up in her hometown of Tacoma, Washington. Also seared into her memory was the 1986 murder of a young girl who'd been out for a bike ride when she went missing. The teen was later found murdered, but the case was never solved. The senseless killing of an innocent young girl would leave a black cloud over Tacoma for three decades.

Lindsey's twenty-one-year law enforcement career was motivated by the horrifying crimes against young women and girls that impacted her and ignited her pursuit of justice for victims.

Take a walk in her shoes as Detective Wade investigates some of the most shocking sex crimes and homicides in the Tacoma area.

Her unique perspective as a biracial female detective working in a male dominated profession gave Lindsey a special connection to the victims and families she helped.

In 2018, dogged determination along with her unwavering passion for solving cold cases ultimately led Detective Wade and her team to solve the thirty-two-year-old mystery of who killed the girl from 1986.

this was a great book. as a Tacoma native it was interesting to hear about local cases- not just Bundy or Ridgeway

I love Lindsey, I’ve heard her stories on “Small Town Dics” the podcast and she is an amazing person/policewoman. The follow up she does is a true testament of what a true detective is really supposed to be and always follow.

Great police work

I chose this book because I like true crime, I’m from Tacoma and I was familiar with the cases portrayed in the storyline. Lindsay Wade truly made a difference in Tacoma, Washington State and probably the Nation by setting an example. She is an inspiration for sure. She did a good job telling these stories without sensationalism. What an incredible lady!

First of all, let me say that I read a lot of what I call murder and mayhem style books. I found the narrator 's voice annoying and almost an AI kind of feel. there was a lot of graphic details which are fine but they didn't really add anything to the story. I never finished the book and I almost always finished the book.

This was really a great book! Like the author, I too admire Bob Keppel and Ann Rule. I hope the author will pen another book soon!

I consider myself an aficionado of true crime and never pass up an opportunity to ‘read’ about cold cases in particular. Lindsey’s account of her career is very impressive. She was obviously a formidable homicide detective with a true passion for victims and their families. Thank you for your service. TPD and victims families were lucky to have you fight for them.

This book was hard on many levels but it was done very well with integrity, honesty and a commitment to the truth. I was sickened by the crimes committed but there is redemption in knowing Lindsey has taken many criminals off the streets and provided ways for future justice to be served across the country. I applaud her service and I am grateful to hear her story. Well done!

for people that like true crime this is a really good book. it kept me interested the entire time. and the case is solved unlike some other books that you go all the way through and then there's no conclusion. highly recommend it
