Acerca de esta escucha
Crystal was standing in her wedding dress, ready to walk down the aisle, when a letter arrived by courier telling her the groom wasn’t coming. After being left at the altar, Crystal returns to her childhood home. Crystal’s mom worries about the amount of time Crystal is holed up in her room, buried in her work, and insists she attends church with the family. Crystal is hesitant but is pleasantly surprised to reconnect with an old friend. Gabrielle insists Crystal join the church’s crochet group with her and then invites her for a night out. The outing includes Gabrielle, her husband, Michael, and Michael’s best friend, George. Crystal reluctantly comes along, and as Gabrielle and Michael are dancing, Crystal and George go for a walk, where Crystal discovers George is in the same boat.
George took his girlfriend on a trip to Vegas with a plan to propose, but instead, Cassie told George everything was wrong with their relationship, and she wasn’t happy. When George returned to work at a family-oriented company, his boss expected him to be engaged. Instead, Cassie fabricated the trip's details to the boss’s wife, and George gets fired instead of promoted.
Both returning home to start over, the two become friends and help each other through these life-changing occurrences. Friends and family see Crystal and George's positive impacts on each other and wonder if there’s more than friendship. They comment so much that Crystal and George begin to wonder the same thing.
Two people who aren’t happy about the time Crystal and George spend together are their exes, who realize they may have made mistakes by letting them go. When they meddle in Crystal and George’s affairs, the two can’t determine where their exes get their information. The only place they’re seen together regularly is the church.
Meanwhile, Crystal questions Gabrielle’s desire to join a church group of women twice their age. Gabrielle explains that the church is in trouble and needs membership to increase, but no one wants to join because nothing has changed about the church since they were children. Gabrielle has an idea for a new service targeted at a younger population, but she has to get in the good graces of the church elders for them to vote in her favor.
Most are on board with a laid-back, family-centered service with a band and activities for the kids. Michael drums and George plays guitar. A couple of other local musicians are also interestedåç, but Helen, who is in charge of most of the church’s happenings, is set against it. No one is sure why, as the change wouldn't affect the church schedule; it only adds to it.
When the group starts working toward their goal, Crystal and George grow closer, things get stranger, and they uncover that everything is deeper than they ever thought.
