Acerca de esta escucha
After the death of her father, Samantha Clark and her mother lose their home to the bank, forcing them to leave Detroit and move in with Samantha’s grandparents. Her grandparents own an apple farm in a small northern town in Michigan. A town far from the hustle and bustle of city life she was used to, and Samantha resented her mother for uprooting her life.
Samantha’s mother sold her father’s car, a 1969 Mustang Fastback. A car that her father had said was supposed to be hers after his death. But they needed money, and her mother sold it for a fraction of what it was worth in an effort to save their home. Samantha was a senior in high school. The car meant everything to her, and she let her mother know how much it hurt her to lose something her father cherished.
While on the farm, Sam meets the hot, handsome neighbor, Zane Davis. Zane likes cars and drives a classic Camaro, and he couldn’t be more perfect if she’d ordered him out of a magazine.
Samanta’s grandfather knew how much her father’s car meant to her and offered her a 1971 Gremlin to drive to school. It was no muscle car, but it beat riding the bus. The Gremlin’s ownership came with a catch: rules that she had to obey strictly and could not sway from them. The car could never get wet or give it fuel after midnight.
Samantha thought the rules were her grandpa’s way of a curfew to make sure she arrived home by midnight and agreed to the rules, but she didn’t take them seriously.
Being a new kid in high school is no easy task for anyone, and Samantha didn’t fit in with the popular kids. The high school mean-girls have it out for Samantha—especially the wealthy Charlotte Harlow. Charlotte wants Zane Davis and needs Sam to stay away from him. Ms. Harlow and her friends beat up Sam and make her life miserable.
When she shows up at a party and the car gets wet after midnight, she finds out her grandfather's rules for the Gremlin were no joke.
