When TJ, a small time Internet show host with his head in the clouds, met a strange green-haired girl in his secluded mountain town, he thought his luck was changing. Unfortunately, on her heels was a collection of sociopaths determined to destroy his hometown for the benefit of a deepweb gameshow's cameras.
And everyone in the town is an unwilling contestant.
Forced to live out his fantasies for unseen Internet viewers, TJ must play along so he can kill the bad guys, fight monstrous scientific abominations, get the girl, and save what remains of his burning town. Failing that, at least himself, his mother, and his collection of anime figures.

Sunday is a 19-year-old super badass with green hair who comes to TJ’s rescue when reality comes to his door. She’s everything he is not and the two make an unlikely team, somehow keeping each other alive during the manufactured apocalypse.
Green Sunday is a satire on the many, many zombie stories. Impossible weapons, evil men on motorcycles, wealthy voyeurs, high-tech, low tech; it’s all there in a mish-mosh of mayhem and cartoon violence.
TJ is a likable character that the listener is hoping will survive, Sunday remains mostly a mystery. The biggest, of course, is why she would choose to ally with such a hapless accomplice. If you like your zombie mayhem ridiculous and laced with satire, you might enjoy this one. The plot is pretty thin and the ending unsatisfying, but you’re paying for the ride on this one.
John McLaughlin performs the novel well. His voice is a pleasure to listen to and his characters are easy to discern. He gets out of the way but moves the story along when the action heats up. Overall, an excellent performance with no complaints. The production quality is top notch as well.
The zombie genre is pretty crowded, so it is fun to listen to one that is at least somewhat different. Green Sunday is irreverent and doesn’t take itself too seriously. There is a lot to like about it, just don’t dig too deep past the two-dimensional characters or logic of it all and you should enjoy the ride.

I never let the fact that I was given this book for free effect or sway my opinion in my review. My reviews are always my own opinion and thoughts on the books that I review.***
I liked the basic idea behind this book and the characters were well written. There were some pretty outside the box concepts in play, and I felt compelled to continue reading the story. I really enjoyed the storyline, however, I have an issue with words and phrases being used repetitively. The term "rag doll" or "rag-dolled", for instance, was used over and over to describe a body's reaction to be shot or otherwise damaged. That is extremely distracting to me and affected my enjoyment of the book.
I did enjoy this book. I was hesitant at first cause I am usually a hardcore post-apocalyptic book lover. Usually dealing with zombies or biological warfare type of books.
Set in a semi end of days type setting you have TJ a well developed main character reminiscent of what a good portion of our youth nowadays is like. Kinda geeky, techy clumsy embarrassed around girls and all-around "weird". He is suddenly thrust into a life or death struggle. Dealing with gangs, and a "game". He fumbles through this new life and he meets this mysterious beauty who goes by Sunday. She has green hair and is totally unconventional when it comes to life. The story mainly follows these two as they try to survive in the new brutal world.
I did enjoy this book. The characters are well developed and you start to like them and I even liked some of the villains. I felt that the writing could be a little to "detailed" at times. Taking a long time to say what was going on. Sort of being over descriptive. This aside I do recommend this book.
Different, but in a good way...

My only complaint, and it’s very minor, is with the narration for female character voices, but in no way did that affect my enjoyment of the story!

The narrator sounds like he's speaking with a throat full of baby socks. Different parts of the book have different sound quality.
I think this writer has potential. It's fair well written, just not engaging. I would have enjoyed this book much better if I and read it myself without a narrator. Things that were set up did not have a very interesting payoff. I was rooting for this book to surprise me, but in the end I was left with an internal shrug.
