 Having just been elected President of the United States one week prior, David Davis, standing before Judge Ceota, hears his fate:

Five years in a federal prison!

Framed for wire fraud and lying to the FBI, he is faced with the choice of pardoning himself once he’s been sworn in as president or governing the country from a prison cell.

As the media goes wild announcing to their viewers that a convicted felon will be leading the country, David makes his decision. Knowing a pardon is not the same as being found not guilty, he becomes Department of Corrections’ Inmate No. 70544.

FCI-Cumberland, a maximum security prison, houses some of society’s worst of the worst. Gangs rule the dorms, convicted murderers dare anyone to challenge them, and drug dealers never run out of customers in the prison.
President-elect Davis along with his two Secret Service agents must navigate living among these hard-core felons. Running the country from prison is also not an easy task, especially since he’s an Independent and the two ruling political parties will stop at nothing to thwart his efforts.

Learning the ropes of prison as he tries to avoid being shanked, he faces the added threat of someone on the outside who would like nothing better than to see him dead.
