Sylvio spent the past decade banished from Simare's court, stripped of land, ancestral home, and title - from Minister of National Security to back-country bowyer. But not any bowyer; Sylvio creates bows from laminations of wood, and human bone, bows that are said to speak, bows known as the legendary arcossi.
And now, after a decade, he is called back to the capitol, summoned by his Prince whom he suspects is a patricide, and insane. His very life is in danger, and with it, the country he has served through all his days.
From Mountains of Ice is a story of love, endurance, and the meaning of honor.

Very slow

The narrator though, has a strong accent. I got use to it after about an hour and it really doesn’t hinder the story. Just takes a bit to get use to.
Nice story..

I love the casual detail, the random straying from the story just makes the world feel more immersive.
great story, horrible narration.

The setting/background reminds me great deal of that in The Gentlemen Bastards series, it is like Italy during the Renaissance. The characters are well drawn out, and are believable, sympathetic beings. The pacing is great, and the plot is as deep as a river. It flows beautifully.
My only complaint, and the reasons for not 5 stars all around is the Narrator. Diana Majlinger may be a great reader, but her voice does NOT fit this book at all. Her accent, her pacing, her pronunciations just take away from the overall enjoyment that narration is supposed to provide. In fact, I just boosted my Overall score from a 4 to a 5, because Stephens doesn't deserve a severe drop due to the narration. Regardless, this is an incredible book, and I look forward to the next in the series.
Amazing tale of Rebellion and sacrifice
