Sure, the AI Voice stumbles at times, and at times it's not immediately clear who's talking. Overlooking that, this author has become one of my new favorites. The way the plots intertwine, the basis the book was built upon, everything creates a story line I am addicted to. if you.enjoy rooting for the underdog, get ready for a fantastic ride. I don't think it gets much better than this.

Amazing Character Growth

First! I’d like to point out I drop whatever book I’m in the middle of reading to read the newest book in this series as soon as it comes out!

With that being said, since this is book 11(I think), I’m hoping it’s acceptable to focus on the few things I didn’t particularly enjoy without seeming like I’m tearing the book apart or didnt like it. I LOVE THIS SERIES. PERIOD. But since we’re all veterans at this point this review shouldn’t really be read by a new reader looking for reasons to invest in the series. However; if somehow this has found the eyes of a new reader.. stop now, clear your calendar, and read this series!

Okay, jumping in. (With my totally unprofessional & nowhere near author level opinion):

•the different variations of the phrase “I held up my hand to hold him off” when she and other people are delivering what is undoubtedly a mic drop worthy speech is mentioned 11-12 times 😳😒. This something that i found myself constantly rolling my eyes at in previous books and has gotten annoying enough to mention this time around. It just makes her seem so haughty and annoying when we know she’s not.
•I wasn’t a fan of how little we saw of the Tamsin and Hudson story line in this book as well as the last book. What little we did see in this book were interactions that weren’t even really about them as a couple. It’s hard to keep rooting for a connection between characters if we aren’t given enough meaningful dialogue between them to keep us invested in their relationship.
•I know this is an ongoing series and there has to be conflict that needs resolution in order to provide content, but the last 2-3 books haven’t given us to many positive connection scenes between Tamsin and her men to feed our loyalty to their relationship. I feel like it forces us to take sides and personally I end up taking the guys side leaving me exasperated and frustrated with how Tamsin acts and reacts to them. Her insecurities are noted and have been justified extensively so when a moment of connection between her and her men (that is already so infrequent) is ruined by her well versed insecurities.. I feel.. cheated(?) in a way. I don’t want her to be a pushover by any means, but a little less jaded would do wonders for my romance addicted soul 😁

These aren’t plot defining hang ups, they were just so frequent throughout this book that they seemed to hold more weight to me.

-I will say I would LOVE to see more of the hobgoblins (but who wouldn’t) and lieutenant Arlen 😏. (Please don’t let him be a conflict character 🤞🏼🤞🏼)
-I loved the fact there was a resolution in this story that’d been a long time coming 🥺. Vague I know, but spoilers aren’t cool.
-I also loved the scenes of Tamsin and her dad spending “normal” time together. & of course when he gets protective of her and stands up for her no matter how much she doesn’t need it 💚.
—Last, but not least, I honestly REALLY enjoyed the dynamic between Tamsin and Neldor evolving a little bit. Unfortunately I did feel like Tamsin’s internal negative dialogue sort of overshadowed or negated a potentially positive scene (same issue I have with the scenes of her and her men), but again.. these aren’t my characters so maybe there is a point to it 🤷🏻‍♀️

This review turned out longer than I planned soooooo thank you for coming to my TedTalk! Lol. I can’t wait to do it again when the next book comes out!! I just know it’s gonna be a doozie!!
