The world as we know it is destroyed when a regional conflict spins out of control, pulling other nations into the war. Most major population centers are vaporized in the ensuing chaos, throwing millions of tons of dirt and ash into the atmosphere to block out the sun and create a nuclear winter.

A new age of lawlessness begins. The void created by the destruction of our central government is filled by local warlords who struggle against each other to provide resources for their people. These clashes threaten to destroy the last vestiges of humanity as the basic needs of food, water, and shelter take precedence over everything else.

From the ruins of the irradiated wastes emerge the bloodthirsty scavengers and a dangerous new breed of creature known as the Changed, who are intent on the annihilation of the human race.

A small group of survivors from Illinois attempts to escape further south away from the deepening cold and increasing anarchy. Along the way, they discover that the true monsters are not the mutants of the wastes; instead the enemy that they must fear the most is their fellow man.

Interesting characters, a fast moving story line and some new twists give new life to the over saturated zombie genre. The author doesn't shy away from some of the nasty things that will probably happen in a post collapse world, but doesn't linger on them either. The story follows the survival progression of an unprepared couple as they blunder through nuclear war, zombies and nasty survivors. Pretty much every post apocalyptic group or scenario is encountered, but nicely handled with good writing and new twists.
James Amherst does a good job of narrating a lot of characters with no distracting mannerisms or accents.
I was given this free audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I’m a big fan of Brian’s work
I liked that this was a underdog story as chuck goes from zero to hero
The mutant and the changed and their newfound ability’s was a refreshing take on the standard zombie
Well narrated and one of the best apocalypse fiction writers I’ve come across highly recommended

WTF?!! I can't decide if Mr. Parker is the most amazing author ever, or if he's compensating for something by writing way better than everyone else. This book is packed cover-to-cover with action, intense moments of defecation, and human barbeque. You really can't go wrong with all of these special ingredients mixed into one meatloaf of a winner. Read it and you'll understand.

Refreshing take on the zombie nuclear apocalypse genre.

Narration was excellent, characters had unique voices.

A good apocalyptic tale. A man that was an financial advisor, no preppier skills helps a group survive after a nuclear attack. Moves through time quickly, not a day to day survival tale. New take on “zombie” type creatures and the physical aftermath to on humans who survive the nuclear fallout. Nuclear winter and the normal evil groups building their kingdom. Some pretty gory parts but a good listen. Wondering if they’ll be a second book. Hope so. Kinda like Chuck.

I’m torn on this review. Overall, I liked the storyline, but I don’t particularly care for how it was written and the conversation didn’t always seem realistic. Also, I don’t think the reader/performer helped that. The way he read almost made it sound like he was doing a satire.
I couldn’t decide whether to rate this a 3 or 4, but went with a 4 because (aside from a few eye rolls) I was mostly entertained.

Enduring Armageddon is a fantastic journey through a post nuclear Armageddon America, centering around a regular "desk job" couple, Chuck and Rebecca, who find themselves having to adapt to a harsh world. The book tells a great tale and has several distinct story phases, and it carries out a nice story arc at each stage, rather than meandering and dragging on and just escalating the one scenario, as many series do. Each phase could have in itself been told as a separate novel, but the story covers so much ground. It was also great that although the author was a veteran, he was writing this story from the perspective of a civilian couple, with no experience or affinity to violence or weapons. And the whole personal journey, of Chuck in particular, was just fantastic.

The scenario itself is also great - there are not that many nuclear war stories, compared to other apocalypse genres, and I like how the author also had the idea of a virus type crazies in the mix - although as vulnerable as a regular human.

I did get this book as a free review copy for an unbiased review, but I now have the author on my wish list for his other titles. I have no issue recommending this book to anyone.

This book also appears to (surprisingly) be the debut narration of James Amherst. I am actually surprised of that, as it was so smooth, professional, and easy to listen to, I thought he must have been a veteran narrator.

Well recommended.

This book starts with a nuclear war, and the two character -- a wife and a husband. I really enjoyed the story because we weren't following another miltary office/law enforcement but a person who was just some normie who is a real person. It reminds me of the Walking Dead.

I don't want to give away too much but he's a normal American throwing into all the bs of trying to remain as he is.

As an audiobook I really enjoyed the narrator and his spin on the characters. I'd definitely give it a listen!

I've never listened to this author before. Much to my surprise, this book has become one of the best post apocalyptic books I've ever listened to! I'm not considering this a zombie book. The "zombies" aren't really zombies. Nuclear war caused the apocalypse. Radiation poisoning caused some people to go mad....so mad that their brains are fried and they try to kill everyone. They're still people and die just as easily as people. There's not a lot of focus on them in this book anyway. Also, this book is categorized as sci-fi. The sci-fi part doesn't come into play until the very end. (I don't consider nuclear war as sci-fi.) It's a great listen! The author did a great job and the narrator was perfect. Surely there'll be a second book, because at the end, we're left with the characters traveling to a new location. If not, that'll be a huge disappointment.

One of my favorite post apocalyptic audibooks!
