Acerca de esta escucha
Founded in 1983 by Ken Chlouber and Merilee Maupin, the Leadville 100 was born out of hardship. When the local Climax Mine shut down and hundreds of jobs vanished, the town needed something to survive—a way to breathe life back into its soul. What they created was more than a race. It was a test of the human spirit.
The Leadville Trail 100 challenges runners to cover 100 miles of rugged mountain terrain at elevations ranging from 9,200 feet to over 12,600 feet. The course demands everything a person has: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Every August, runners from around the world gather in the thin air of Leadville to chase a finish line that few will ever see. For most, simply starting is an act of faith. For many, finishing becomes a life-changing journey. At the heart of the race is Ken Chlouber’s famous challenge, shared at every pre-race meeting: “You’re better than you think you are. You can do more than you think you can.”
Simple words. But for those of us who have stood at that starting line in the cold, dark morning hours—they carry weight.
This book isn’t just about running the Leadville Trail 100.
It’s about what God did in me through the process—through the training, the struggle, the failure, and the breaking.
It’s about digging deeper when everything inside you wants to quit.
It’s about drilling down into God’s strength when your own is gone.
It’s about learning that sometimes, the mountain isn’t there for you to conquer… but for God to transform you.
This is my story.
This is my mountain.
This is my drill.
Let’s go.
Drill, baby. Drill.
