Six strangers, who are mysteriously drawn to a campfire on the shores of a beach, hold the keys to unlocking the secrets of a troubled girl's past and her continued existence. One of the six, however, has intentions that are much darker and destructive. The remaining group must unravel what is real and what merely a dream in order to save the girl's life and the future of all who are "unique" like they are.

like said in the title, this book contains rape. not expecting this, it really caught me off guard. there are some sex scenes that were a bit unnecessary, but ultimately most of it, certainly the rape parts, made sense. Thematically this book is super well done once you understand where the plot is going. Most of the character introductions are done very well.

This is another audiobook-only review. I enjoyed the aspects of the story that I was able to follow. But that was difficult, as the narration SUCKED! The narrator opted to give every single character in this story the same inflection and tone of voice. So it sounded like somebody with multiple personalities having a discussion with themselves. The first character was male, not that I could tell, as she didn’t even try to lower her voice for male characters. She never really seemed to take a bread when narrating either. Everything sounded like an endless run-on sentence, which got extremely old, quickly. Finally, she kept mispronouncing “deaf” as “Death”, which is not only annoying but led to confusion on my part when the line “….the person who was introduced as Death……” came up.

From what I could tell of the story, it seems like an interesting concept with a horribly executed audio narration. If you read it, go physical or digital; whichever is available to you.
