Actually, the whole thing has just come crashing down: her fiancé has turned out to be a cheat, and Victoria is staying with a friend while she attempts to get her life in order. Then there’s the matter of the minor car crash she’s responsible for—which would be bad enough on its own, except she also happens to collide with Mr. Charles Dowling, the director and owner of the company she works at. He is a difficult-to-read man—and his disdain for Victoria is perfectly apparent. Unfortunately, Victoria soon finds herself working directly for him. This work takes her away to a grand country house that looks like it comes right out of a Jane Austen novel. But that’s not all—a re-enactment is underway, and Victoria has a part of her very own. Yet is it really just a recreation of Austen’s famous works? As the line between fiction and reality blurs, Victoria quickly finds herself falling deeper and deeper—into the story … and into a romance with the most unexpected person of all: Charles Dowling.
