Acerca de esta escucha

A boy prophet who can raise the dead. Followers who would kill for his favor. And a sibling on the run for more than her life . . .

It was a moment to spawn a thousand nightmares. But fourteen-year-old Diane Cockerton still can't remember that day in the Little Woods. Her father prevented 'something unimaginable' from happening to her is all she's ever been told. Two years later, Diane is finally ready to rejoin the world.

Her mother has been blessed with another child, a 'miracle baby' called Simon. But there's something unnatural about Diane's new brother. Strange things have begun to happen. Disturbing things that can't be explained.

Things that only happen around Simon Peter . . .

Hailed as a 'horror story for true horror fans,' Disciple is a nightmare-inducing tale of modern day evil masquerading as salvation. If you long for satisfaction from a horror story; if supernatural thrillers, religious horror, demonic prophecy, and twisted endings you won't see coming are what you yearn for; then you'll love A. G. Mock's award-winning trilogy!

Can Diane expose her brother's dark truth before it's too late . . . ?

Contains mature themes.

This was an intense an deep horror book. I was forced repeat chapters so I fully understand the direction of the book.

Continuing from the first book, The Little Woods, the author builds upon the incredible story line with masterful craft! Full of twists and turns that the reader doesn’t see coming, the sequel pulls you deeper and deeper into the story. So much that you feel like you are standing right there in the midst of it all!

Move over, Mr King!

Having already read the book, I wanted to experience the emotions of listening to the Disciple as well. It did not disappoint.
From the very beginning to the terrifying end, you will not be able to stop listening.
If you’ve read the Disciple, I highly recommend also listening to the audio. It’s a whole different shocking experience.
The narrator is incredible and does an exceptional job bringing life into all the characters.

The Disciple is book two of the New Apocrypha trilogy by A.G. Mock and a continuation of The Little Wood’s.
This story will haunt you as you wait for the final book of the New Apocrypha: The Shadow Watchers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Disciple by A.G. Mock
😱😨😳☠️😈

Well, This had me on edge!
Chapter 23 got me, man. "The movement of the new Apochrypha had begun. " ..... I got CHILLS!

This is the sequel to The Little Woods. I gave The Little Woods a 5⭐️ review, so I had to make sure to grab Disciple!

This is occult horror and follows Diane as she tries to remember the day in The Little Woods with her father. She has a new brother named Simon, and she's noticing strange things happening around him. It is a heart-pounding, thrill inducing read/listen. I did not expect that ending 😳.

A.G. Mock and the narrator are definitely bringing the scares to life. I'll be starting The Shadow Watchers soon, book 3, in the trilogy.

Chilling Occult/Ritualistic Horror read

I loved the first book. Read it when it first came out in print. When I saw the series would be on Audible, I listened to it again and went straight into the second book. Couldn't finish. Got through maybe 2 hours worth before moving on. First they changed narrators. Then one of the characters entire accent changed. On top of that, it seemed the girl, Diane, suddenly became a moody teenager. I don't remember her age being mentioned in the first, but she felt younger. Maybe 8 or 9. Now she's 14. Felt too big of a leap for only a couple of years going by and the trauma she endured. I also wasn't crazy about the perspective change. The first book was told through Ian's memories and experiences. Now it's through Diane's teenage mind. Just couldn't get into it.

Narration ruined it for me

Descent story with genuinely creepy sometimes disturbing moments.

I don't understand the choice of going for the huge overarching religious themes as opposed to the smaller more intimately frightening ones like say, the exorcist. Once you get that ambitious there's always the temptation to go beyond what's needed in terms of the source material (the Bible, Christianity etc) and get into some strange writing choices.

I feel that this series has taken a turn for the worse with the direction that Mock has decided to take it. That said, still very creepy and I'm mildly interested enough to continue and see how it all gets resolved.

More "the omen" than ", the exorcist".
