Trust doesn’t come easily when you’ve been running for as long as I have, which is why moving in with a man I barely know is such a bad idea. Shepard Colson is all golden-boy charm and devastating good looks. But I know what it’s like to be taken in by easy smiles and the promise of forever—I have the scars to prove it.

Only the handsome contractor won’t stop coming by the bakery and prying little truths from my lips—those amber eyes of his seeing far too much. And when all the secrets come crashing down, he’s determined to keep me safe, even if it means moving into my rundown cabin to do it.

Now, Shep isn’t just rebuilding the walls of my home; he’s working his way into my heart. Suddenly, he’s everywhere: shirtless in my garden or in a towel coming out of my bathroom. And my resolve is no match.

Only it’s more than his golden looks. It’s him. The way he watches for my wounds but tells me I’m stronger than anyone he’s ever known. And I can’t help but fall.

But I should’ve known better than to think I could be happy—not when a ghost from my past still has me in his sights. And when he finds me, he’ll do anything to tear my life apart, even if it means ending it for good…

This book was SO good. It had it all. Romance, Mystery, suspense, strong independent heroine, perfect hero, narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon. You cannot go wrong with a Teddy book, i cant get enough of his narrations. Erin is a super enjoy in small doses narrator for me. like if a whole series was her, I couldn't binge listen to her voice for all the books in a row without breaks, Teddy, I could. It would certainly help it it were narrated in duet, because while Teddy does fantastic male & female voices, imo, Erin is good at female, and not great at male, in my opinion. That's what would make it a narration 5☆.
The story: Shep is husband goals. Like too good to be true, not a thing wrong with that man. And I can't wait to hear more about this couple in future books in this series.

♡♡♡Every woman needs a Shep♡♡♡

The story of Shep and Thea. I finding of justice for the trama her ex boyfriend caused and was surprised that the person that wanted her harm was a victim of abuse and her friend.

Love this book series!

5 ⭐ 2 🌶 5 🎧

I loved Shep and Thea so dang much. These two were sweet as heck and absolutely made for each other. The suspense was perfect, that third act had my jaw on the floor, and the spice was just spicy enough in this slowish burn.

I absolutely love this family. This mishmash of abandoned souls all gathered under Nora and Lolly and have the best found family ever. I adore every last one of them and can't wait for all of their stories. When Sutton mentioned hockey lessons, I figured Coop was coming back to town and I am so excited for them.

The audio was incredible. Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon are two of my absolute favorites and they brought these characters to life so well. I can't wait for more.

So Dang Good.

Delicate Escape is the second in her new series and just wow!
Thea is hiding from a famous actor who made her life hell, she does everything to stay off the grid. She of course lives a lone with her cat, who is a character by itself and she fosters kittens, has a thriving greenhouse, works 2 jobs and has let some friends into her life though at a distance.
Shep is a fixer whether it’s people or a building, abandoned as a baby he was adopted into a great family but still there’s this little doubt belonging.
Their relationship did not start well, she took a bit to let him in
But of course it turns out beautiful.
Things happen and Catherine throws so many red herrings you’ll never guess who actually is the bad guy though the others aren’t exactly innocent but it’s definitely an omg moment.
I read and listened to the book because I couldn’t put it down, the audio is done great, you’ll love listening to every moment!
Now the hard part waiting for the next one!

Loved Shep and Thea’s story… the male narrator threw me off the whole time; which is why I couldn’t enjoy it to its fullest. There are better male narrators that could perform better.

Loved their story

I just finished *Delicate Escape*, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Catherine Cowles has this incredible ability to create characters that feel like real people you could actually know, and I was completely drawn into their world.

Shepard Colson, the male lead, is the kind of guy you just can’t help but love. He’s such a cinnamon roll—kind, patient, and so steady in the way he cares. The way he falls first and is all in from the start made my heart melt. It’s not just about his good looks; it’s about how deeply he understands and supports the female lead. He’s there for her in the most genuine way, breaking down her walls with every sweet, thoughtful gesture.

What I loved most about this book is how Cowles weaves together the romance and suspense. It’s not just a love story; it’s a gripping, emotional ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat while making your heart ache in the best way possible. There were moments that had me holding my breath, and others that made me smile through the tears.

*Delicate Escape* is a beautiful, intense journey that left me feeling so connected to the characters. If you’re looking for a story that will touch your heart and keep you hooked from start to finish, you need to read this book. Catherine Cowles truly knows how to craft a story that stays with you long after you’ve turned your headphones off.

Okay, I am hooked on Cathrine Cowles now! Unfortunately, I wasn’t so “hooked” on her first book I read/listen of hers, the 1st book in this series. There were just a few things that didn’t quite add up or just came out of nowhere . . . Like, for example, there was a s*x scene that involved a little bit of “tying up” (if you know what I mean 😉). Now, normally, I don’t mind a little bit of “playing” in a romance novel IF the woman is into it, BUT in the 1st book, this “spicy, play scene” came out of NOWHERE! No explanation as to where/why this “playing” 1st started . . . BUT with this book, this “play scene” was explained SO much better!! The twist at the end was also very good, too; I didn’t see it coming, TRULY!! The ONE thing I DO wish kinda happened was that the stuff with Brenden (Thea’s, the MFC, ex-) was a little bit more drawn out at the end, instead of just a little paragraph length explaining what happened to him. But that was my only little “complaint”; it was like the author was left to wrap up that part of the story too quickly after briefly “forgetting about it”. 👍🏻 That’s what it felt like to me, anyway. But I probably would’ve honestly finished the book this past weekend if I wasn’t at a wedding; I liked it that much! 😍 And now cannot WAIT to start on Sutton & Cope’s (the next book in the series) story tomorrow! ❤️💞

LOVED This One More Than Book 1! 😍❤️
