There once was a killer who knew the night, its secrets and rhythms. How to hide within its shadows. When to hunt. He roamed from town to town, city to city, choosing his prey for their beauty and innocence. His cruelties were infinite, his humanity long since forfeit. But still... he had not yet discovered how to make his special mark among monsters, how to come fully alive as Death. This is the story of how he learned those things, and of what we might do to ensure that he does not visit us.

I figured out veeeeeeeery early this was a vamp story so I was disappointed with this one. I expected more from Koontz.

He portrayed the innocence of the one character, with true knowledge as to how a child of that age woukd react and fear most.
Masterful in its knowledgibility.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I'd say make it a bit longer, but really, what's the point? It's a short story that doesn't seem to say much (while saying a lot), and wouldn't be any better in novel form.Would you be willing to try another book from Dean Koontz? Why or why not?
Not likely. Some of his earlier stuff I liked, nowadays it's like he gets an idea in his head, writes it and has no idea where to take it so just trails off and leaves us with a slapped-together finale.Which character – as performed by Steven Weber – was your favorite?
None really.Do you think Darkness Under the Sun needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I don't. Everything was wrapped up here, and though you could perhaps extend the tale, there's no real use. There's no real mystery or suspense here to draw on. It's literally a fairly dry telling of a series of events.Any additional comments?
I wish I could go back to the old Koontz where things were a bit odd but "clicked" in the end. Now it's just weird for the sake of being weird, with no real "world" or story behind it. I'll pop back in in another year or so to see if things have improved with him.Typical Koontz of late

Would you try another book from Dean Koontz and/or Steven Weber?
NOT one of his best works by a long shot! From the Corner of His Eye, Watchers, and False Memories were used to compare this one. Disappointing would be a good way to describe this book.Would you recommend Darkness Under the Sun to your friends? Why or why not?
No, it is just too bland. Was Darkness Under the Sun worth the listening time?
No for me!Mediocre
