This should be assigned reading before starting your first corporate job. It may not save you from yourself and stupid mistakes, but maybe if you listen to it twice, it might sink in

Wish I had this book at age 25

Enjoyed listening and plan to incorporate in my career as I plan to move to the next level as a manager.
Narration is very good too!

Excellent book

I'm an academic and an entrepreneur. I received a masters/bachelors with near 4.0 gpas and have run a successful start-up (not in the millions of revenue but good enough to survive and to sell for a profit), but I've been struggling with understanding corporations since i've graduated. This book has really helpful for someone like me!

I loved it so much, highly recommend. Maybe for people who are familiar with corporations and understand how they work, this may not be extremely helpful. But if you have ever wondered why things are the way they are in a corporation. I highly suggest reading this book I think you'll gain something out of it.

I'm incompetent when it comes to corporate stuff

Very refreshing look at HR, corporate world, and moving up. Not vague, specific examples, straight to the point. I loved it.

If you're new to the corporate landscape this is a good book to listen to than can potentially give you and advantage.

Good for entry level career people

Seriously, a better title would be, "how to appease your corporate overlords and possibly make middle management". I was really hoping there was something actually worth the read here, but there's really not. Don't make waves, always be a team player, and never anger your supervisor is the just of this book.

The sociopath who wrote this recommends that you don’t report sexist harassment.

The advice in this book is that you are worthless and desperate and therefore should put up with whatever illegal, unethical, and damaging behaviour towards you. This is what is called “learned helplessness” in psychology and is incredibly bad for your health.

Don’t purchase this horrible book. I recommend Workplace Poker instead.

Bad advice

An actual quote: "Never go to HR with a sexual harassment claim"... just ask for a transfer. 🤢The 'advice' this author gives only gets worse. I started listening to the book for research on corporate transparency and had to stop reading after Chapter 2 because of how awful and misguided the content was. If anyone ever, ever tells you to stay quiet and keep your head down after being sexually harrassed, throw their book in the trash 😉

My free advice: Please do not read this book or believe the lies within. If you're with a bad employer, tell them what you see, see if they change and leave if they don't. If you're fired from a company, reflect on your part to the broken relationship and go start a new one with another employer who wants you both to succeed. And if you find another self-help book that uses as many 'always' and 'never' directives as this one, close the book.

Disgusting and disturbing "guidance"
