As always Quincy J Allen delivers a great story like a 1 and 2 combo! filled with action and one of the best voice narrators around to tell the tale.

Strong characters. It starts with action and keeps it going most of the way throughout the book. I am interested in seeing what happens next. The biggest negative from this audiobook was some of the theatrical sound effects and voiceovers were distorted and hard to understand. The audio sometimes made it hard to understand what was being said. Like listening to transmissions from a CB radio when you are on the border of being out of range.

If you are a fan of Star Wars, Mad Max and Indiana Jones you will love Colt the Outlander: Shadow of Ruin! The story takes place on the abandoned and cut-off Earth like mining planet of Neb-6, which has a mash-up feel of a post-apocalyptic, steampunk and retro-SciFi worlds all rolled into one. The story revolves arounds the three main characters, Colt, Brem and Jenna who are a team of bounty and treasure hunters and guns for hire. Each of them bring their unique personalities and skill sets to the table to get them out of some precarious and life threatening situations. The narrater, Charles Kahlenberg, brings this visual and action packed world and characters to life in a commanding and yet never tiresome manner, leaving you only to want more. Quincy J. Allen, the writer, masterfully weaves a multi-genre story with many cliffhangers, action packed chapters and mysterious supernatural events that keeps fueling the fire.
This expertly teamed partnership between Allen and Kahlenberg brings the Aradio Brothers intellectual property, Colt the Outlander to life in a way that only they can. 5 Stars All The Way Around!

9 hrs & 32 mins of Multi Genre Action!

I didn’t expect much. From the description this book looked like a cheesy graphic novel type adventure or expanded comic book so it figured it would be a low brow action and was ready for some mindless fun action.

Well, it didn’t even deliver that. Mindless..,yes. Fun action…no. There was lots and lots of action but no reason to care. Although the characters were written to fulfill the fantasies of teenage boys , Mt. Allen never bothered to write enough for us to get invested in any way. We’re just supposed to identify with the characters because they are bad asses and be drawn in by the action. But it’s a complete failure. Never once did I care if they survived the fights or succeeded in the mission. The quality of writing is just too lazy and immature. It’s worthless. The dialog was empty and beyond juvenile.

The audio production and narration was absolutely horrible!
At first I was intrigued by Kahlenbergs voice. He has a deep resonance like Sam Elliot. Unfortunately his voice coupled with the poor production quality made it very difficult to understand a lot of the book. The vocals became a low hum of garbled words and it was very difficult to understand what was being said without tweaking your audio settings to wash out as much bass as possible and tweak the treble above what would be normally acceptable. Then the production would add horrible sound effects that added nothing but annoyance to the audio. STOP DOING THAT! He also did an atrocious job reading! His cadence and inflections made absolutely no sense and only confused the narration. He would emphasize a word that should have been the end of a sentence with a better writer as if there were a period there but then finish the written sentence anyway without emphasis making a confusing and disjointed narration throughout the entire book. Extremely difficult to listen to.

Quincy J. Allen and Charles Kahlenberg are now two names added to my audiobook Do Not Buy Or Listen To list.

Terrible waste of money. Zero stars!
