Acerca de esta escucha

This is audiobook #3 in the Casca Series.

Casca awoke from a drugged sleep and saw his spear thrust into the side of the man on the cross. His spear...lost when he was sent from Judea! It wasn't a vision - it was the beginning of a threat which would follow Casca through eternity, and cost him the use of his hand.

As Doctor Goldman is soon to learn, it is just the beginning of an adventure which would take Casca behind the Great Wall of the Hidden Empire, China. He would rise to the position of War Lord, and heir to the throne, only to be buried alive at the whim of a frustrated royal concubine.

this is book 3 of the series. The narrator, as always, is one of the best. My only complaint, is that the chapters of the book do not line up with the audible chapters. So you'll be on chapter 5 in the actual book but you'll still be reading chapters 3 but other than that there were no problems. The story is a pretty good one, and had a couple of surprises in the beginning. the end was a little soft however but I look forward to reading the next one.

A decent story.

I am relatively new to the Casca series. This is the third Casca book I've read. Barry Sadler spins a good yarn.

In this submission, Casca travels across Asia to honor the recommendations of an old friend.

Enjoyable

the casca series is by far, fills that itch for macho pulp.
that may be the wrong way to describe this soldiers tale of immortality. Its crude, lots of swear words, lots of violence, lots of sex, and i hate to say it, but i love every two fisted drinking word of it. Casca is brilliant. if you like pulp fiction (the movie) kill bill, or the hateful eight, This is your new jam!

not for the sensitive reader.

could easily be skipped in favor of better books in the series. it's short but not all that interesting in my opinion.

OK but one of the weaker books in the series.

Gene engene is simply awesome. He really makes the stories come to life and his voice is pleasant and varied.

Narrator is the best

I read several of these books when they came out, decades ago. This was one I missed. I really enjoyed this one; it has what all this series does. They're all more than just based on an immortal character: the historical aspect is spot on.
Having history as a minor in college, this just spoke to me when I rediscovered them. Sadler puts heart & soul into these books, making the ride fun & thought provoking.
Now into the next installment!

Great Series-Again!

There are a few legends about men who encountered Maschiach YaHshua either shortly before HIS horrific death on the torture stake, or during the time HE spent dying, who came away from their interaction immortal, for all intents and purposes. Most, like Casca Rufuis Longinus were not Believers. Over time, they all begin to learn HIS Truth and begin helping others to learn it to. This being number 3 in the series, Casca hasn't gotten there yet. I learned about this series through a completely different series (the Crusader) written by Tom Abrahams about a character called John Beck. Both can be found on Audible and both are well worth listening to. Gene Engene "is the voice of Casca" for me. Both series have lots of action, moral choices and changeable worlds. Fantastic!!

Casca VS John Beck...Sadler VS Abrahams
