The night Jon Sommers finds out his fiancé, Lisa Gabriel, has died in a terrorist bomb attack, he is visited by spymaster, Yigdal Ben-Levy, who tells him that Lisa was not a fellow graduate student but a Mossad spy sent to bring him to Israel. Ben-Levy also tells him that the death of his parents was no accident and persuades Sommers to join Mossad to seek justice for Lisa's killer. But things get more complicated, and Jon finds himself at the center of a dangerous global conspiracy.

I buy some books because they are "of a type." I bought DS Kane's Blood Ridge because I hadn't read one of his books and wanted to try one and because I thought it might kill time on a long drive. Blood Ridge did not kill time. It annihilated it. I lost all sense of time on my drive, and I missed my exit at my destination because I was too much in the story. I didn't finish the book on my trip, and I found myself doing house chores when I got home in order to keep listening. I hate house chores. Good fun. Fast pace. Detailed research. Perfect reader. Excellent, convoluted spy story and origin story for a series character.

What disappointed you about Bloodridge?

The story was trite and silly. All the things tried before were crammed in making a rambling unbelievable story. I was looking for a successor to Daniel Silva, this is not that by a far cry.

Would you ever listen to anything by DS Kane again?

Probably not, unless the reviews really say his style has changed.

Did Denny Delk do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes, but his delivery was dry.

Really not what I was looking for.
