Oh how todays terminology confounds us. Terms like accurate self-assessment, effectiveness, efficiency, lean, six-sigma, executive presence, leadership-by-example, empathy, DEI, resiliency, balance, etc., can be overwhelming at times, and thus are misused or mis-applied frequently, regardless of how far you've progressed along your career path journey, or what outcomes you have achieved so far.

One thing I wish I’d had when I started down my career path was a "how-to-guide" that helped me understand more of the true meaning of these and other terminologies, and the power of their application earlier in my career, where it could have had an even greater impact on myself, my career, and the companies I worked for sooner.

I’m hoping that this book becomes that "guide" for you. I hope it will help you see things before they happen, help you understand them when they do, and help you respond to them in a way that leads you to a successful outcome. It is my attempt to simplify and demystify some of the things you may have seen or experienced in your career so far and thus get to a Better Outcome faster.

In Better OUTCOMES, I explain patterns and other observations of success I have seen or experienced across the years and break them down into four simple areas with the following focus:
• A focus on making the right career choices for yourself and not just living with ones you may have "fallen" into.
• A focus on being more effective and efficient by being faster-better-cheaper every day.
• A focus on having and applying leadership characteristics and capabilities across it all.
• And the importance of having balance, resiliency, and continuous learning throughout the journey.

In Better OUTCOMES I break down complex terms and examples into simpler forms, ones that are easily understandable and can be applied yourself. I use a mix of applied knowledge, with many examples drawn from my actual business experiences, and theoretical knowledge drawn from the prior business writings and research of others, so that you see how others have accomplished things and thus learn from their past successes, and sometimes failures.

In the end I hope it causes you to think differently, question some, or many, of the assumptions that have gotten you to where you are today, and layout new or different ones for tomorrow, if needed. It is my attempt to simplify and demystify some of the things you may have seen or experienced in your life and career so far, and thus get to a better outcome faster!
