Diamond Rio
Can true loyalty exist within the competitive, seemingly unforgiving music industry? In Beautiful Mess, Marty Roe, Dan Truman, Jimmy Olander, Brian Prout, Gene Johnson, and Dana Williams each has an entire chapter devoted to his personal and professional life. The book's tone is a welcome rarity - not written from one player's perspective, but from all six as they "meet in the middle." Beautiful Mess is a wild ride from the edge of disaster and a little-known secret to an ongoing heart-warming revival.

If you could sum up Beautiful Mess in three words, what would they be?
Loyalty, Perseverance, CommitmentWhat was one of the most memorable moments of Beautiful Mess?
Listening to the band members in their own voice. What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
The main narrator has aWas there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The story about Marty's voice issues and the way the band reacted was inspiring and made me respect each of the members for their commitment to the band as a whole.Any additional comments?
I am a big fan of Diamond Rio, but not to the point of knowing each member's name and what instrument they played so it would have been helpful to me to be reminded of who was talking and which part they played in the band. Each was introduced one at a time, but I tended to forget who was who as I made my way through the book. This book is recommended for Diamond Rio fans as well as those who might be thinking about music as a living. You really get the point that it is not easy and does not come fast and does not pay well when you start out. But the book does show what can happen when you have the talent and the drive to succeed.During the parts where each band member speaks, each had his own part and did not interact with the others. I think it may have been interesting to have more interaction between the band members as well as they told their stories.
