Downtown, police responded to an alleged burglary at a business near the intersection of Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Avenue early Monday morning. Officers arrived to find a broken window and several items missing. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. The case remains under investigation.
In the Southeast neighborhood near Academy Boulevard and Airport Road, officers were called late Tuesday night for an alleged aggravated assault. Two people were reportedly involved in a physical altercation, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. One individual was detained at the scene and the case is pending further investigation.
Officers in the Old Colorado City area responded Wednesday evening to an alleged motor vehicle theft near Colorado Avenue and 25th Street. The vehicle was later recovered undamaged several miles away. The incident is ongoing and police are seeking information from the public.
On Thursday, police in the Briargate neighborhood investigated a reported domestic disturbance near Union Boulevard and Research Parkway. Responding officers separated the involved parties and arrested one individual on outstanding warrants related to a prior case. The matter is under investigation and police remind listeners that all parties are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
In the Knob Hill area late Thursday, officers conducted a traffic stop near Platte Avenue and Circle Drive that led to an arrest for alleged possession of a controlled substance. The driver was taken into custody and the case is being reviewed by the district attorney’s office.
An alleged shoplifting incident was reported in the Northgate shopping district Friday afternoon. Security notified police when a suspect left a retail store with unpaid merchandise. Police arrived quickly and took one person into custody. The property was recovered and the suspect was released with a summons.
A shooting was reported early Saturday morning in the area of South Nevada Avenue and East Las Vegas Street. Police found one victim with a non-life-threatening wound. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. According to KRDO, officers are actively seeking public assistance in identifying a male suspect described as approximately 6 feet tall, medium build, last seen wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department.
